Sprint’s nascent LTE network is just in its infancy having only gotten the green light to get lit up back in July. Of course, it would be unfair to compare it with the coverage of league-leading Verizon’s LTE network which currently has the widest coverage in our side of the world. Despite the challenge of expanding its coverage, Sprint is slowly but surely making sure that the rollout of its LTE network doesn’t stagnate. In fact, the carrier promised a couple of months back that it has a couple of new markets lined up to get LTE coverage and the carrier is keeping its word.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE is available for a reduced price at select online retailers now starting at 79.99.

As it stands, the carrier has announced that it has started work in the building of its 4G LTE network in the following areas:

  • Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota
  • Oakland / Fremont / Hayward, California
  • Key West, Florida
  • Fort Smith, Arkansas
  • Michigan City / La Porte, Indiana
  • Bloomington, Indiana
  • Eau Claire, Wisconsin
  • Arrdmore, Oklahoma
  • McAllen / Edinburg / Mission, Texas

In addition to that, the wireless provider announced that its subscribers who are rocking LTE-supporting handsets such as the HTC EVO 4G LTE may already be able to enjoy LTE coverage in the areas mentioned above during its pre-launch phase. The carrier also announced that its 4G LTE network can also be expected to get lit up in the coming months in more than 125 cities that include Boston, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.

This simply means that users of the HTC EVO 4G LTE in the areas mentioned above are bound to enjoy all the benefits of the carrier’s LTE network such as blazing fast mobile internet speeds, better wireless signal strength, in-building coverage and fewer dropped / blocked calls. In addition to that, the carrier’s acquisition of US Cellular should also improve its coverage but that remains to be seen and is a story for another day.

As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset is best known for being the smartphone that got held up at the US Customs while the International Trade Commission subjected it to a through once-over after Apple filed a lawsuit claiming that the handset infringed on some of its patents. As for the components under its hood, the circuitry of the handset is built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset and this SoC brings into play a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. In terms of storage space, the HTC EVO 4G LTE comes with 16GB of internal memory but this can still be expanded using the handset’s microSD card slot. As for its display, the handset sports a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and chat camera.

You can buy the HTC Evo 4G LTE for a reduced price now starting at 79.99.
