kitkatSince Google has announced the next version of its Android software, called KitKat, the rumors have been flying around as to what devices we could see with the new software.  At the same time, some of the devices that are left off the list will certainly upset some consumers.  HTC has plenty of handsets on the market that can be updated and with the latest software coming soon, it will be interesting to see which ones get the update right away, shortly after release or not at all.  The last part being the worst, but if HTC drags users along before they decide, it will make matters worse.

At the end of July, Google announced a new Android update, which was version 4.3 and it was at that time that some phone makers decided that they might skip by the Android 4.2.2 update and wait around for the 4.3 software.  Just a few weeks ago, Google went ahead and announced another major update for the Android operating system with the Android 4.4 KitKat version.  Now some of the devices that were not even updated with the Android 4.3 software have a decision to make.

Whether or not phone makers are going to want to wait for the KitKat version to arrive rather than just get the Android 4.3 out to users is going to be a tough call to make.  On the one hand, users might be fine with waiting, but the bad side is that others might get rid of an older phone an upgrade to a newer device that might come with the new software pre-installed.  One of the more well known leakers that deals with HTC products mostly, has come forward with a list of possible devices that could be in line for the KitKat software.

Details about getting an HTC device updated to Android 4.3 have been limited, but getting any information about Android 4.4 has been even more difficult at this time.  It looks like the Galaxy Note 2 and Note 3 are in line for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in October, so that is good news.  The HTC leaker did offer one prediction at least saying the HTC One X+ will not be getting updated with Android 4.4 software, while the Droid DNA could be in line for the Android 4.4 and the Sense 5.5 updates.
