kitkatAndroid 4.4 KitKat was just released by Google a few weeks ago and now that more devices are connected, downloading and installing the software, it is time for the company to get the first bug fix update ready to download.  The Android 4.4.1 software is reportedly coming very quick according to online sources.  Google has confirmed the update for the brand new Nexus 5 already and it will only be a matter of time before all of the other devices that installed Android 4.4 KitKat recently will be on the list.

The update for the Nexus 5 is expected to arrive within in the next couple of days and that comes days after a users took to Twitter to reveal that the HTC One Google Edition would be getting an update within the next few days.  The release date was not given, but it did give Google the green light to say something about the Nexus 5.  Some websites were reporting that they had Android 4.4.1 KitKat powered devices showing up in their analytics and that included a Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7, which were all located within range of the Google campus in California.

One online source claimed that a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.1 was also visiting websites, but that could have been the Google Edition of the smartphone.  Google’s Director of Engineering, Dave Burke confirmed that the Nexus 5 was getting updated soon, but did not give details into any other devices that might be in line as well.  It would only stand to be obvious that any other Nexus branded device would be on that list as well, but that remains to be seen.  The update is a small one, but it will address some issues that have been plaguing users over the last few weeks.

The main improvement is going to come in the camera with the Nexus 5.  Once the update is installed, the overall speed of the camera app should be improved, a new progress bar for HDR+ photos and improvements to the Auto Focus functionality will bring a new level of sharpness to the photos taken with the Nexus 5 camera.  What will come with the update on other Nexus devices has not been confirmed, but they are most likely going to be fixes to the overall performance.
