Tech analyst William Blair noted back in June of this year that the Motorola Droid Razr 4G Android smartphone had outsold the iPhone 4S on the Verizon Wireless network in the United States for a short period of time. Quite a feat for any phone, the handset that influenced all the wonderfully slim smartphone creations we currently have at our disposal was immediately a flagship device for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system when it was launched on November 11 of last year. Still a bestseller for that LTE network almost 11 months after its arrival, the Droid Razr 4G offers a bargain bin retail price and above average specs and features with speedy 4G LTE capability.

The Droid Razr 4G is on sale now starting at 49.99.

Much of the allure of the Droid Razr has to do with its super skinny profile and light weight, tipping the scales at 4.48 ounces (127 g) and measuring 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.28 inches (130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm) in size. And on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system, a Droid Razr 4G handset owner can expect mobile broadband speeds topping 20 Mbps. That handset is also rugged, bearing a Kevlar and aluminum coated design, nanocoated splash-proof electronic components, and a protective Corning Gorilla Glass display.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system is on board, and the 4.30 inch Super AMOLED Advanced display delivers a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, offered at 256 pixels per inch. Displays are rendered in more than 16 million colors, and standard light and proximity sensors automatically adjust for the best display brightness, and help conserve battery life. On the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, the Motorola Droid Razr 4G can deliver up to 12.50 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 1,780 mA battery on board.

The hardware package present on the handset is centered around a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package, with a dual core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A9 central processor at its core. The handset also processes all graphics with a separate PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board and 16 GB of storage are built-in. The on board microSD slot allows for storage expansion, accepting memory cards up to 32 GB in size.

The camera combo includes an 8.0 megapixel camcorder and 1.3 megapixel chat cam. That rear device captures video at a high resolution 1,080P HD, and offers a multishot burst mode, panorama mode, preloaded scenes, autofocus and special effects package. A YouTube video player has been built into the handset, and the on board music player supports all major audio file formats.

Buy the Motorola Droid Razr 4G now starting at 49.99.
