Time and again, we have reiterated the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S III is not only one of the most powerful smartphones currently available in the market today, it is also one of the most popular, if not the most popular. This popularity of the device was already evident even before it hit the shelves. This is shown by the fact that preorders for the handset have easily reached the 9 million mark in just a couple of days after Samsung unveiled the device during the early parts of May. This inevitably led to a shortage in the stock of the handset because the manufacturer had a hard time keeping up with the demand for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Because of this, there were delays in the launch of the handset on a global scale.

And when the Samsung Galaxy S III finally hit the shelves in the latter part of May, it instantly became the toast of the smartphone town because of the impressive resume and even more impressive capabilities it brought to the table. Shortly after that, it proved to be a veritable gold mine for the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer because in a little less than two months, sales of the Samsung Galaxy S III skyrocketed and hit the 10 million mark. What made this even more interesting is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S II, the handset’s predecessor, took 5 months before its sales figures reached 10 million.

However, it looks like there’s no stopping the Samsung Galaxy S III from filling up the coffers of its manufacturer. Turns out that the sales of the handset have reached another milestone and this time around, the Samsung Galaxy S III has finally broken the 20 million barrier. What is unbelievable here is the fact that handset managed to achieve this in just 100 days – a feat that took its predecessor to achieve thrice as long. Looking at the numbers, this simply means that Samsung sells approximately 200,000 units of the Samsung Galaxy S III on a daily basis. The device is available at AT&T and Sprint, with the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III doing exceptionally well also.

Samsung even gave out the details and itemized the sales by region. According to the manufacturer, 6 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S III were sold in Europe, 4.5 million sold in Asia, 4 million in North America and 2.5 million in its hometown of Korea. What’s even more interesting is that the Samsung Galaxy S III achieved all this despite the fact that its manufacturer also recently released several hot-selling smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

There is no doubt as of the moment that the Samsung Galaxy S III deserves its position as the flagship device of Samsung. However, what I want to see next is if the handset can keep up its impressive ales number given the fact that several very capable devices such as Nokia Lumia 920 and the Motorola Drod Razr Maxx HD are already official and are about to hit the shelves. Not only that, I would also be very interested in how the release of the next generation iPhone will affect the sales and popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S III. But that is a story for another day.
