Samsung Nexus S 4G gets Google Wallet via Android 2.3.7 update

The Google Nexus phones are considered the royalty in the Adroid line of smartphones because of the fact that these devices are always first in line to get a taste of the latest, newest and freshest update for the mobile operating system of Google.

Such is the case with the Nexus S 4G on the Sprint network. While other Android users are just getting 2.3.4, the Nexus S 4G is already on its way to getting Android 2.3.7 which has been recently released by Google. If you are a Nexus S 4G-toting guy, lucky you!

To take advantage of the Android 2.3.7 update, all you gotta do is update your handset to the latest firmware and Voila! Say hello to 2.3.7 on your device. With this upgrade, the firware version of the Nexus S 4G gets bumped up to GRJ90 from GWK74. To check for the notification if you can already update your device, just go to Settings page of your device and look for System Updates.

What excites most people about this update is the addition of Google Wallet in the list of features for the device. Sad to say, this update will only be available to Samsung Nexus S 4G users on Sprint since the Google Wallet service exclusive offering of Sprint.

If you are an international user of Sprint, you might get stuch with 2.3.4 for the meantime but that doesn’t mean that your Nexus S is less of a phone. Read on about the impressive specs sheet of the device to console yourself while waiting for the 2.3.7 update.

The Nexus S 4G packs the usual ugly slab of black plastic form factor commonly seen in smartphones today but what sets the handset apart from the competition is its classy good looks brought about by the curved screen of the device. It measures 124 x 63 x 11.2 mm and tips the scales at 131 grams.

Under the hood, the Nexus S 4G boasts of am ARM Cortex-A8 processor with a 1GHz clock speed sitting atop the Hummingbird chipset of the device. The capable processor of the Nexus S 4G is supported by 512 MB of RAM whil storage space comes in the form of a very generous 16GB of internal memory. A word of caution though – be very vigilant in the use of the internal memory of the handset as it doesn’t have a dedicated media card slot for memory expansion purposes.

Display-wise, the Nexus S 4G packs a humongous 4.0-inch SuperAMOLED capacitive touchscreen fashioned in a curved manner. The display of the device has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and pixel density of 233 ppi. The camera department of the Nexus S 4G on the other hand gives us two shooters – a 5MP shooter mounted at its back with LED flash and autofocus and a VGA shooter out front.

So you see, if you are not part of those receiving the 2.3.7 update, you still got a lot of reasons to rejoice based on the capable specs sheet of your handset.
