galaxygear2Samsung has been doing what it can to help make Android the number on mobile operating system in the world, but with one of its new devices expected to arrive later this year, the company has reportedly stepped away from Android.  The software is number one on mobile devices all over the world, but according to Samsung, the software is not the best for smartwatches.  Instead, Samsung is reportedly going to release its second generation Galaxy Gear powered by Tizen software.  The Galaxy Gear 2 is reportedly going to be released with the Galaxy S5 smartphone.

The Mobile World Congress event is coming up next week and Samsung already has one event scheduled during that time where they are reportedly going to bring the new smartphone and smartwatch along with them to showcase to the public.  Samsung could be releasing more products, but the focus is on the new smartphone since the Consumer Electronics Show saw some new tablets that they are bringing to the market.  The event, coming up on the 24th will be held in Spain and New York City and that is where the public will get to learn more about the new products.

Getting away from Android is huge for Samsung and according to sources that are dealing directly with the matter, the Tizen operating system will be making its debut on the new smartwatch.  Samsung has been working on the Tizen software for about one year now and it is running a special version of HTML5 that will make the Galaxy Gear 2 faster and more efficient.  Samsung could also tap into the developers already making mobile apps to do the same for the new watch.  Other rumors about the Galaxy Gear could be released with a curved display like the ones that are seen on the Galaxy Round or the recently released LG G Flex.

Samsung is hoping the curved display is more comfortable, more stylish and just gives a better fit on the customers wrist.  The original Galaxy Gear was released back in September, which is not that long ago, bringing many questions as to why the company would want to replace it so quickly.  The Galaxy Gear did not get the most positive reviews and was not the top product in the category when it launched.  The second generation is expected to have better features and functionality.
