The Samsung Infuse 4G arrived in January of 2011 on the AT&T 4G wireless broadband network. And with the largest display in smartphone technology at 4.5 inches, it definitely let its presence be known. Still the largest display in 4G smartphone technology, the Samsung Infuse 4G has seen several phones join it on AT&T’s and other 4G networks. Today we breakdown the Samsung Infuse 4G in this technical specs review.

The Samsung Infuse 4G retails for $99 on the AT&T 4G network two-year activation. The above-mentioned Samsung-created Super AMOLED Plus 4.5 inch screen displays in 480 x 800 pixel resolution. That screen is a capacitive touchscreen with a proximity sensor and light sensor included. The Samsung Infuse 4G does support multi-touch gestures for navigation, and 16 million colors. An HTML web browser is used for surfing and World Wide Web access.

At eight hours talk time on a single charge, the Samsung Infuse 4G is exactly at the 4G average for all smartphones. Also, with a standby time of 17 days, the average smartphone performance is reached here as well. MicroSD slot upgradability to 32 MB and a microUSB port, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity are also requisite features on a 4G smartphone, and are on board the Samsung Infuse 4G. The Infuse offers video out capability in a couple of ways. You can hook your HD monitor or TV up to your Infuse 4G via the HDMI port, or go wirelessly through DLNA support.

The rear facing 8 megapixel camera offers video recording in 720 pixels, and the front facing 1.3 megapixel video chat cam also supports video call capability. The single core Hummingbird processor is a 1.2 GHz chip set, and is supported by 512 MB of RAM memory. Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo operating system is supported out-of-the-box, but an over the air upgrade to Android’s 2.3 Gingerbread operating system is soon to be available. The Gingerbread software update also delivers performance enhancements and a battery charge improvement. As with all Google operating systems, Adobe Flash media player support is aboard, and Google integration, such as Facebook, Picasa and Twitter software apps preloaded, is present throughout.

  3. Yah…im pretty sure this phone did not come out in january…

But yes still no gingerbread, but it isnt really that big of a deal i mean it would be nice to have but its nothing to complain about if yiu dont have it. It really is bot that special compared to froyo

  4. No Gingerbread update as of this morning. The phone was announced in January, but it did not come out until mid-May.

Gingerbread should make some big improvements in the battery department. That’s the main reason I’m looking forward to it. Also will deliver a revamped UI.

  5. This phone came out in May, not January. And there is no Gingerbread update available. I have had the phone since May. It’s a good phone, but it locks up a LOT and the battery drains very quickly even with Wi-Fi and GPS turned off. I can’t make it a full day without the battery going dead.
