We first heard about the existence of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona back in February. At that time, there were no details as to when the stylus-packing tablet will get released to the market. It turns out that it will take some time before the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will get launched because Samsung sent it back to the labs for additional hardware and software upgrades.

In US shores, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 hasn’t been announced yet but Samsung will be holding an event in New York City come August 15 where the Korean electronics giant will announce the tablet. Though that may be the case, Samsung already went ahead and released a press statement announcing that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will become available internationally this month.

The original Samsung Galaxy Note is available for as little as $199 at select retailers.

Since getting unveiled at Mobile World Congress, the tablet has had a slew of upgrades and the most notable among these is the addition of a slot in its chassis to hold its pressure-sensitive S-Pen. In addition to that, the components under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 also got a lot of upgrade love that made the tablet a whole lot more capable, which we will get into in a bit.

Other notable improvements to the performance of the tablet include its ability to run multiple apps in a single screen, sort of like a picture-in-picture functionality seen in big-ass TVs. With this Multiscreen functionality, users of the tablet can be more productive and efficient where they can watch interesting videos on one half of the screen while using the S-note application to take down notes.                Samsung also highlighted the S-Note application of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 in the press satement. With this in play, it looks like Samsung is targeting students and business people because of the combination of pen input and a bigger screen real estate on the tablet.

As of the moment, the price point and exact release date of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 hasn’t been nailed yet but if word on the street is to be believed, the tablet will come initially in a Wi-Fi only and HSPA models while a version of the tablet with LTE support is expected to land later this year.

As for the components in the internals of the tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 packs more than enough punch under the hood. The tablet is a quad-core beast thanks to its Exynos 4412 Quad chipset which gives the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. Its system memory has been bumped up to a staggering 2GB of RAM and will be made available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in terms of storage space. The display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is a 10.1-inch PLS TFT panel with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and will come with 5MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.9MP webcam out front.
