Back in the day when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note, its first generation phablet, it was only AT&T who gambled on the device and released the device in US shelves amidst doubts with the smartphone’s capability to make a mark in the smartphone competition. After all, it was a niche device that came with a massive display and doubters felt that the smartphone-buying population isn’t quite ready yet for a device like the Samsung phablet.

These doubters were proven wrong though when the Samsung Galaxy Note became a big hit with AT&T. Our smartphone-crazed brethren have finally realized the advantages that the phablet’s massive display brought to the table and the fact that the components it had under the hood were pretty impressive didn’t hurt as well. And now that the first generation Samsung phablet is already on its way out with the recent announcement of its successor, the Samsung Galaxy Note II, major carriers in our side of the world have confirmed that they will be releasing their respective variants of the second gen phablet.

And as is customary among devices to visit with the FCC before they get launched, the versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note II headed to the shelves of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have already shown up at the offices of the FCC over the weekend. Not to be outdone, Sprint’s variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note II has already visited the FCC and is now just awaiting the official announcement from Sprint regarding its addition to the lineup of the carrier. As of the moment, there has been no solid word yet as to when the announcement will drop but there are speculations that this bound to happen on Samsung’s press event in New York City on October 24.

In other news, the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II was joined by a Samsung tablet with model number SPH-P500 when it dropped by at the FCC. There is no official word coming from Sprint regarding this but the tablet appears to be Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 slate with support for the 4G LTE network of Sprint.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, this is the successor to the highly-successful Samsung Galaxy Note and is rumored to hit US shelves this November. It is expected to ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this will be powered by the phablet’s Exynos 4412 Quad chipset which gives it a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and a staggering 2GB of RAM. No confirmation yet coming from Sprint camp as to how much built-in memory it will pack but it will be at least 16GB with an option for memory expansion. The display of the phablet remains its stand-out feature with its massive 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with 1280 x 720 resolution. Its camera department is just as capable with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9Mp snapper.
