oppofind5Much after rumors of the Oppo Find 5 hit the market a few months ago, the expected release date and specifications of the phone have finally been revealed. The phone is expected to be introduced into the market in the first quarter of 2013.

The phone seems to have impressive hardware with the potential to surpass Samsung’s Galaxy S III and Apple’s iPhone 5 in the smartphone market. The Oppo Find 5 will run Android 4.1.2 out of the box, and comes with a 5 inch 1080×1920 full HD multi-touch screen with 441 ppi pixel density. According to Oppo, the display renders colors with greater clarity, making them appear more lifelike and vivid. This is attributed to OGS technology, which makes it seem as though the contents of the screen are almost floating. The bezel of the body of the phone is almost non-existent, making it a rather sleek device to handle. Rounding off the specs list is 2 GB of RAM, inbuilt storage capacity of 16 GB, a 1.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and a 2500 mAh battery. However, it lacks a microSD card slot.

The phone also boasts a 13 mega pixel camera capable of recording videos in 1080p at 120 frames per second, which is suitable for playback in slow motion. It offers Dual LED flash, autofocus, Geo tagging and a High Dynamic Range mode as well. A 1.9 MP front camera is also present, and can be used for self shots or video calls. Data exchange is possible through Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC technology. Other connectivity options include tethering, computer sync, over-the-air updates and DLNA. Other Android features like voice commands, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass along with Dolby 3D Surround sound are also present. The Oppo Find 5 will work on a variety of networks, specifically, the 1900, 1800, 900, 850 MHz bands on GSM and 2100, 1900, 1700/2100, 850 MHz bands on UMTS, which should ensure that the device will work in most countries around the world.

The specifications of the Oppo Find 5 place it directly in competition with the leading flagship in the Android stable – the Samsung Galaxy S III. Though the Find 5 surpasses the S III in some respects when it comes to raw specifications, pricing is one of the main aspects Oppo will have to get right at the time of release. For the right price, the Find 5 is a must-have, and not just recommended.
