When you talk about handsets in the Windows Phone ecosystem, the Titan and the Titan II from Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer stand out from the rest of the WP smartphone pack because of their massive displays. However, there was not much interest on the two devices because Windows Phone fanboys allegedly felt that the two HTC devices only had their massive screen real estate to offer and nothing more. Of course, there’s the 16MP rear shooter of the HTC Titan II to talk about but that was not enough to get the smartphone-buying population interested on the handset.

HTC vowed to change all that though and has already come out with guns blazing when it announced its new entry to the smartphone competition in the Windows Phone platform – the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Though the handset has a smaller display compared to the two Titans, the current flagship WP8 device of HTC comes with an upgraded hardware DNA that can sure take the fight to the bad boys of the smartphone market.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X reached official status when it was announced last month but there was not much detail as to when it will make its debut in the shelves. Although it has been confirmed that the handset will be released by AT&T in US shores, neither the carrier nor the manufacturer released solid word as to when the handset will be made available in the shelves of AT&T.

However, there are rumors and speculations that AT&T is already getting ready to offer the HTC Windows Phone 8X for preorder starting October 21, a couple of days before Microsoft is set to hold a press event to introduce the new Windows Phone 8 devices to our smartphone-crazed brethren. This, according to sources who are said to be familiar with the launch plans of AT&T and Microsoft. Although no confirmation regarding this but word on the street is that the HTC handset will hit the streets during the early parts of November but a Microsoft spokesperson went on record and stated that “Windows Phone 8 phones will be available to customers later this year.”

As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the handset has measurements of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm and it tips the scales at 130 grams. Under the hood, the components of the handset are pretty impressive. Its circuitry revolves around the HTC Windows Phone 8X’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset (which incidentally is what the Samsung Galaxy S III has in its internals) and a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM work together in coming up with the computing muscle required for the handset’s flawless performance. In terms of storage, the HTC Windows Phone 8X comes with 16GB of built-in memory while its display on the other hand is a 4.3-inch SuperLCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Even the camera department of the HTC Windows Phone 8X is impressive with its rear 8MP shooter and front-facing 2.1MP video call and chat camera.
