lumia928Verizon finally got a slice of Nokia PureView goodness, and it came in the form of the new Nokia Lumia 920 4G LTE capable smartphone. The camera capabilities which arrived on the Nokia Lumia 920 put to shame other smartphone cameras, and now those same features have been given a Xenon flash and the ability to run on Verizon’s 4G LTE system in the United States. The Lumia 928 handset arrived on May 16, and delivers a large display, high pixel density and HD+ resolution, along with a camera which delivers PureView excellence and a Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens.

The Nokia Lumia 928 4G Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at .

The new Xenon flash performs at a much brighter level than the typical LED flash, ensuring that your nighttime pictures are perfectly captured. And the physical body of the Lumia 928 is slimmer and smaller than the popular Lumia 920, while delivering all the same high-end characteristics and features. Also, the Nokia Lumia 928 comes equipped with three high-performance HAAC (high audio amplitude capture) microphones. These extra sensitive mics pick up nothing but the intended sound, and offer distortion-canceling which allow you to capture up to 140dB sound (airplane taking off) without distortion.

The handset also includes an advanced loudspeaker which is capable of effectively reproducing the distortion free sound you recorded. The handset measures just 0.40 inches (10.1 mm) in thickness, and delivers a large 4.50 inch display. Pixel density runs high at 332 color pixels located over each inch of display space, for an overall resolution of 768 x 1,280 pixels. A scratch resistant glass layer covers the AMOLED display, which offers more than 16 million individual colors, and uses special light and proximity sensors for auto brightness adjustment and auto dimming to preserve battery power.

Battery conservation efforts and the 2,000 mA battery on board combine for an incredible 25.2 days of standby battery power, as well as 16.2 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. The hardware package on the Lumia 928 handset includes a more than generous 32 GB of built-in storage, along with 1.0 GB of RAM memory, an Adreno 225 GPU for processing graphics and a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU which is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system-on-a-chip. The handset retails for approximately $49 on contract at select online retailer outlets.

The camera mentioned above is an 8.7 megapixel PureView model which uses optical image stabilization to keep your shots steady and in focus. Several software “lenses” are also present which offer optimal customization and personalization features, and the wide-angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens captures more light than the typical smartphone camera. Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, and the front facing camera can be used for chat, Skype and video calls.
