The Windows Phone ecosystem may not be as widespread as Android or iOS is but the platform has been bustling with activity since the first pack of smartphone running Windows Phone 8 for their operating system got announced and hit the shelves during the second half of last year. However, high-end devices in the platform as not as numerous compared to Android and you only have the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X if you happen to want a flagship device running Windows Phone 8 for its operating system.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.

These two handsets are currently the top-tier devices in the Windows Phone platform but you can actually include the very elusive Samsung ATIV S in the mix if only the handset is not that elusive and hard to find for that matter. As for the aforementioned devices, both the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X have already gotten the Portico update late last year and this refresh brought stability to the performance of the handsets and at the same time fixed issues affecting their cameras.

However, if you happen to live in territories outside of US shores or Canada, chances are the Portico update hasn’t been rolled out and is yet to make its way to your Nokia Lumia 920. However, word on the street is that the update will allegedly see a global rollout by February (fingers crossed on this). But if you happen to be on the market and are still shopping for the Windows Phone handset that you be your next mobile weapon of choice, if you set your sights on the Nokia Lumia 920, chances are the new handset you will be purchasing will already be running Windows Phone 8 with the Portico update out of the box.

No confirmation regarding this coming from the camp of Nokia but according to our source, he managed to get information about a Nokia Lumia 920 handset shipped by Dutch retailer KPN already coming with the Portico update pre-installed on the handset. In addition to that, our source claimed that the build number of the said handset is 8.0.10211.204 and this perfectly matches that of the latest update for Windows Phone 8. Well, we already heard about Nokia’s plans of shipping the Nokia Lumia 920 with its updated OS preinstalled and this is what looks like happening right now.

As for the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset is already running Windows Phone 8 for its operating system and this is powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC brings into play a dual-core Krait processor with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure that the performance of the handset is always speedy and stutter-free. The storage capacity of the handset is pegged at a very generous 32GB but this is all you get since the handset doesn’t pack support for memory expansion. Display-wise, the Nokia Lumia 920 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.

You can purchase the Lumia 920 at a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
