Nokia Lumia 920 4G Gets Retail Price Drop

lumia920bThe Nokia Lumia 920 4G Windows phone launched on the AT&T network on November 9 of this year. Offered in eclectic colors like yellow, red and cyan, the handset is also available in the typical black and white options. A Carl Zeiss camera package is on board, and the handset is the first offered from Nokia with a Windows Phone 8 operating system that includes both a high definition screen and modern dual core processor. The handset was recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless year end sale for around $39 on contract.

Delivering Dolby sound enhancement for all audio and blur free videos thanks to PureView technology and Optical Image Stabilization, the Nokia Lumia 920 delivers 4G speeds on both the AT&T LTE and HSPA+ networks. The screen is large at 4.5 inches, and ClearBlack technology delivers the fastest LCD display Nokia has ever made for a smartphone, according to that handset manufacturer. This refers to the refresh rate which is up to 2.5 times faster than other smartphones.

The handset also delivers a super-sensitive touchscreen technology, which can even detect your multitouch, capacitive gestures while you are wearing gloves. Resolution on that large touchscreen runs 768 x 1,280 pixels, and that is delivered at a high-end pixel density rate of 332 pixels per inch. The IPS LCD renders visuals in more than 16 million individual colors, and light and proximity sensors automatically adjust for the proper display brightness taking into account your surroundings, while helping to conserve battery power.

Corning has offered a second generation layer of their Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance, and single charge talk time runs a very generous 17.0 hours, with wireless charging capability. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 chip set with LTE radio, and at its cornerstone is a dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU. An Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory is pre-installed. 32 GB of internal storage are also present, and the Nokia Lumia 920 4G offers an additional 7 GB of SkyDrive cloud storage.

Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter applications have been pre-installed, as has the Internet Explorer 10 web browser. The handset supports Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless applications, and ceramic zirconium camera detailing enhances the rear facing 8.7 megapixel camcorder. That rear snapper delivers an impressive camera feature package and Carl Zeiss optics, and records video in 1,080P HD resolution. Up front on the Nokia Lumia 920 is a 1.3 megapixel chat cam capable of video calls and portrait snapshots.
