The Nokia Lumia 900 was one of the first smartphones to deliver LTE 4G capability to a Windows Phone operating system. Red-carpeted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 9th, the handset took home the coveted CNET Best Smartphone of CES award at the annual consumer electronics industry gala this year. With the Windows operating system catering to smartphones a little more than a year old, the Nokia Lumia 900 running the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS officially launched on April 8 on the AT&T 4G LTE network as an alternative to Android and Apple smartphones.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is currently available starting at $19 at select online retailers.

Nokia made the Lumia 900 4G with their largest display ever, a 4.3 inch WVGA AMOLED display with ClearBlack technology, and it is available in your choice of Black, White or Cyan body colors. The polycarbonate unibody is tough and durable, and the Gorilla Glass layer on the display recently proved strong enough to pass a hammer torture test on YouTube. Average in size if slightly heavier than the typical 4G handset, the Nokia Lumia 900 4G measures 5.03 x 2.70 x 0.45 inches and weighs (127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm) 5.64 ounces (160 g).

AT&T recently lowered the retail price of the handset to $19 on contract at select retailers. The 4.30 inch AMOLED display on the Lumia 900 broadcasts visuals in more than 16 million colors and at 217 pixels per inch, for an overall screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device, and standard light and proximity sensors automatically adjust for the proper brightness and help conserve battery life.

Speaking of battery life, talk time runs 7.0 hours after a single charge of the 1830 mg battery on board, and standby time sits at approximately 14.6 days. A Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon microchip package powers the handset, and is centered around a 1.4 GHz Scorpion central processor and graphics dedicated Adreno 205 GPU. 512 MB of RAM memory are on board as is 16 GB of built-in storage.

A 1.3 megapixel chat cam faces the Nokia Lumia 900 user, and an 8.0 megapixel camcorder is around back. That rear device comes equipped with a dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics package, and delivers autofocus, touch to focus, video stabilizing, exposure control and Geo tagging features while recording video in 720 P HD resolution. YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and Twitter applications have been pre-installed..  You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 900 starting at $19.

  2. nokia makes great mobile phones and it takes care of its customers. for twenty bucks grab a great smartphone with excellent battery life plus nokia maps, nokia drive with turn by turn instructions audible, nokia transit, nokia music. it is a deal that you will not get again soon. it also comes in pink.

  3. This is really surprising to me, this phone is amazing! Best i have had in a long time! And i’m always trying to be up to date with phones. I have used Galaxy’s and IPhone 4s and this is by far my favorite. It’s got that simple and addicting feel yet its not ripping off the IPhones looks, it’s comfortable in the hand, it’s durable, it’s amazing. Nokia is really great and best of all, it’s fast and the network is amazing. 19 dollars? I’m questioning if Nokia is drunk at the moment. If your looking for a phone and you looking at this one, take it! Don’t waste it on an IPhone, with this phone you get the most bang for your buck.
