The next generation Nexus 7 has been available on the market since July of this year and since then consumers have been waiting around for new Flip Cases to arrive on the market. Google released a sleeve of sorts shortly after the device was available, but most of us would like to see full protection and this week, Google responded with official flip cases made just for the new device. The new cases can also be used as a tablet stand for the device making it easier to see when viewing on a flat surface.
Google moved the new cases into the Google Play store recently and they are available in four color options with a suede covering. The cases look very nice and have good build quality, which should provide plenty of protection, they are not cheap. According to reports, the Google Play store has the covers listed at $49, which might seem high compared to others that are out there, but this one might offer the best protection while looking the best at the same time. Google states that this is the “first tablet case designed by Google” for the new Nexus 7.
The company goes on to explain that the case also comes with a build in stand designed “to the exact specifications of your Google-designed technology”. The odds that you are going to buy into the new case might seem slim, but if you just dropped $249 on your tablet, another $50 for quality protection is more than just an impulse buy. The case comes in four colors including black, white, and two grey options that have red or blue trimming. The Google logo can easily be seen on the inside of the flip cover.
The built-in stand offers to orientations for a comfortable viewing experience. You can either stand the tablet up in landscape mode for easy viewing of streaming content or you can lower the stand that allows for an angle that might be easier to type on. Google does not mention whether the cover comes with a magnet for sleep/wake mode, but that does not mean the option is not available. The covers look nice and will compliment any Nexus 7 tablet. According to the Google Play store, the covers are $49 and will start to ship on the 9th of October.
