Back when the original Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was unveiled, Motorola said that the handset’s major selling point is its massive 3300 mAh power pack while will give the smartphone an incredible battery life like we have never seen before. True to its form, the handset delivered and blasted through several real world torture tests with flying colors. This is the same exact reason as to why the handset became such a big hit when it finally became available in the shelves of Verizon for mass consumption. After all, rarely do you get to have a smartphone that you need to charge at the end of each day for use on the morrow.

However, the handset is now about to head off to retirement because its successor has already been announced by Motorola. The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD was unveiled a couple of weeks back at a press event held by Motorola where it was introduced alongside the Motorola Droid Razr HD and the Motorola Droid Razr M. Similar to its predecessor, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD also packs the same 3300 mAh power pack in its chassis so you can expect the same battery life as that of the original Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. The only glaring difference is the upgrade the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD got in its hardware DNA along with its screen.

During the announcement, it was confirmed that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD will make its way to the shelves of Verizon but as is always the case, there was no mention of a specific time frame as to when the handset will finally make its debut in the shelves. Sad to say, reports came out a couple of days ago that the launch of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD could possibly be delayed. Sources claim that issues concerning the antenna of the handset is the cause of the delay wherein signal degradation is experienced whenever a user touches the area where its antenna makes contact with.

However, it looks like Motorola was able to get these issues taken care of because there are already speculations that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD could very well make it to the shelves of Verizon by October 18. Sources claim that the wireless provider has already started the training of its staff in preparation for the handset’s launch. No confirmation on this though but as soon as more details become available, we’ll be sure to let you know.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD, its operation is powered by its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which gives the handset a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor along with a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset comes with 32GB of internal storage while a microSD card slot in its chassis enables memory expansion. Its display has been upgraded and is now a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP video call and self-portrait camera.

  1. That’s great news… the only thing that concerns me is that if it’s the same battery, how can we expect the same # of hours on it when the screen increased in size and they added a beefier processor?
