Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD Jelly 4.1 Bean Update on Track

The Droid Razr MAXX HD launched on October 18 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the United States, the home to all previous Droid Razr devices. Borrowing the Razr 4G’s skinny profile, the Droid Razr MAXX extended life battery, and the High Definition screen of the Razr HD, the Droid Razr MAXX HD delivers a bevvy of attractive features. The handset also offers a PIN lock, remote hard drive wipe, and government-grade data encryption technology for improved security.

The recently released Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD now available for a reduced introductory price at select online retailers starting at 199.99.

The NFL Mobile app is available only from Verizon and comes pre-installed, and the handset delivers Near Field Communications (NFC) support in a black or white body. Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS is present out-of-the-box, but it currently appears that the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system upgrade is on schedule to arrive per the Motorola press release made just over a month ago.

Droid Razr MAXX HD owners should be buoyed by the release of the Jelly Bean 4.1 update for the Droid Razr M, which was pushed out on schedule and is due to hit those handsets on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network over the next few days. The Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr MAXX HD were announced as subsequent recipients of the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system after the Droid Razr M 4G.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD 4G handset measures 5.19 x 2.67 x 0.37 inches (131.9 x 67.9 x 9.3 mm), weighing 5.54 ounces (157 g). A layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass protects the 4.70 inch Super AMOLED screen and a splash guard coating makes the handset water resistant, even down to the interior components. That display is offered at a pixel density of 312 pixels per inch, one of the highest found on any smartphone, and overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. DLNA and microHDMI video out options are present.

The 3,300 mA battery on board the Droid Razr MAXX HD delivers a generous 21 hours of talk time, 27 hours of streaming music or 13 hours of video playback when in Verizon’s LTE network. The handset employs a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor and Adreno 225 GPU as part of the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package, 32 GB of data storage is built-in, and 1.0 GB of LP DDR2 RAM is also on board. A microSD slot provides storage expansion,and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder captures video in 1,080P HD resolution.
