The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX now finally has the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system running the show. The long-awaited ICS OS has finally arrived on the Droid Razr MAXX 4G, and Motorola recently promised the delivery of the new 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system to all handsets built in 2011 or later by the end of this year. As a caveat they have promised a $100 credit in some form to any of their handsets which do not receive the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS as promised before the end of 2012.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is on sale now starting at 69.99.

The handset arrived on January 26 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE platform in the US. That system is reportedly up to 10 times faster than the Verizon 3G network, and the splash resistant, Kevlar and aluminum Droid Razr MAXX is equipped with a speedy dual core processor to efficiently harness the speeds of the 4G LTE network. The handset also allows simultaneous voice and data access, and is one of the slimmest handsets available at 0.35 inches (8.99 mm).

The display is protected by a scratch and chip resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and even the electronic components inside are splash-proof, benefiting from a protective layer of nanocoating. The display on the Droid Razr MAXX is 4.30 inches, providing 540 x 960 pixel resolution. Pixel density runs above average at 256 pixels per inch, and the Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive multitouch screen renders visuals in more than 16 million different colors.

The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G delivers the best battery performance of any current 4G smartphone, delivering a full 21.5 hours of talk time from a single battery charge. That oversized, extended life 3,300 mA battery also delivers an alternate 15.0 hours of video playback, and standby time runs nearly 16 days. The hardware package on board centers around a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package, with a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor at its core. A PowerVR SGX540 chip handles all graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and 16 GB of data storage are built-in.

A microHDMI slot provides wired video out capabilities, as does wireless DLNA connectivity. The built-in microSD slot allows for storage expansion, accepting cards up to 32 GB in size. Incorporated into the back of the handset is a high resolution 8.0 megapixel camcorder which provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution. A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam joins that camcorder in the camera combo, and a proprietary YouTube video player has been pre-installed.

Buy the Motorola Droid Maxx Razr 4G now starting at 69.99.
