Rugged and durable, the Droid Razr HD body is made of a DuPont Kevlar fiber coating and aircraft grade aluminum. A protective layer of Gorilla Glass offers scratch resistance, and a waterproof coating protects both the interior electronic components and the exterior of the handset against incidental water contact. The large 4.70 inch Super AMOLED screen presents visual displays in more than 16 million colors, and pixel density runs to the high-end at 312 pixels per inch.

That gives the screen an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and capacitive, multitouch gestures are supported for device navigation. DLNA video out wireless connectivity is present, and the handset delivers approximately double the talk time from the average 4G smartphone, at 16.0 hours. The 2,530 mA battery on board also delivers single charge standby time of roughly 12 days. Accelerometer, proximity, compass, and barometer sensors have been integrated into the handset.

The chip set on board the Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 package, built around a dual core Krait central processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. An Adreno 225 focuses exclusively on handling all graphics processing, 16 GB of data storage is built in, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. The built-in microSD slot allows for storage expansion, supporting cards up to 32 GB in size.

A built-in music player supports all major audio file formats while filtering by album, artist or play list, joining a YouTube video player in the multimedia package, and the popular Picasa application has been preloaded. Built into the back of the handset is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder with 1,080P HD resolution video recording, and up front facing the Droid Razr HD user is a built-in chat cam. That rear snapper comes equipped with an LED flash, and delivers autofocus, face detection and image stabilization features. The Droid Razr HD supports video calls, voice memo recording, voice dialing and other voice commands.
