droidminiofficialThe Motorola Droid Mini has been officially announced as arriving on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States on August 29. The Motorola Droid Razr lineup has recently been delivering extreme battery performance, and the Motorola Droid Mini continues offering that wonderful feature. However, not all smartphone shoppers are happy with the current trend in handsets and their screen sizes getting bigger and bigger, and the Droid Mini addresses that issue without giving up overall performance.

The Motorola Droid Mini is available for pre-ordering at online retailers at a reduced sale price starting at $49.99 (A savings of up to $50 over carrier prices).

The Motorola Droid Mini still offers a large display (4.30 inches), and high resolution (720P), but does so with a much smaller form factor than previous Motorola Droid smartphone models. The handset also improves the megapixel count on its rear camera by 25% over best-selling Motorola devices such as the Droid Razr MAXX HD, offers substantial RAM memory, and excellent pixel density. The phone can also squeeze out a remarkable 28.0 hours of talk time from a single charge of its 2,000 mA battery.

Battery standby time runs approximately 13 days, and the handset is rumored to hit the mobile marketplace in the United States with a retail price tag around $99 on contract. The phone is exceptionally slim at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) in thickness, and delivers an overall smaller body than typical 4G smartphones at 4.77 x 2.41 inches (121.25 x 61.3 mm). Delivering the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Android operating system is a boon for the Motorola Droid Mini, which continues the Motorola Droid reputation for durability with its Kevlar body.

The 4.30 inch LCD touchscreen mentioned above delivers a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, offered at a rate of 342 pixels per inch. The Droid Mini offers built-in wireless charging, and is powered by a Motorola X8 system chip. The CPU is a dual core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, while a quad core 400 MHz graphics processor is also present. The handset’s hardware package also includes 16 GB of storage built-in, as well as a generous 2.0 GB of RAM system memory.

The premier snapper on the handset is a 10.0 megapixel camera built into the back of the phone, which joins a 2.0 megapixel chat cam on the front of the handset. The rear shooter is equipped with an LED flash and autofocus, recording video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution). Built-in support for YouTube and Picasa applications is present out-of-the-box, as is a mobile web browser and and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC wireless connectivity options. You can pre-order the Motorola Droid Mini at a discounted price tag starting at $49.99 at select online retailers.
