When talking about the Windows Phone ecosystem, there are only two high-end devices that fanboys of the platform can get their hands on – the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the Nokia Lumia 920. Actually, there are three top-tier devices in the ecosystem if you include the Samsung ATIV S but since the Samsung flagship device for Windows Phone is still missing in action, we have no choice but to stick with the two mentioned earlier.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.

Now going back to the HTC Windows Phone 8X, we heard from our reliable sources in the Taiwanese industry that the flagship device of the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer for the Windows Phone platform is selling very well. In fact, there are reports that the sales performance of the handset in US shores has been extremely strong. Sad to say, details and specifics such as how many units of the HTC Windows Phone 8X remain unavailable as of the moment.

This strong showing of the HTC Windows Phone 8X in smartphone leaderboards can be attributed to the fact that the handset comes with very impressive components under its hood while its exterior is also very gorgeous to begin with. However, word on the street is that this strong showing of the HTC Windows Phone 8X in terms of its sales figures could be cut short. As it stands, several sources have intimated that limited components supplies such as voice coil motors and ITO films among others could lead to problems in the production of the handset.

There has been no confirmation if this is true but if it is, this spells big trouble for the beleaguered Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. Hopefully, this isn’t the case here but there are reports that the HTC Butterfly (released in the US by Verizon as the HTC Droid DNA) is already in short supply in some parts of Asia and these reports could to a certain extent lend some credence to these rumors.

As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the handset recently got the Portico update which took care of issues specific to Windows Phone 8 such as random freezes and restarts. It has measurements of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm and it tips the scales at 130 grams. Under the hood, the HTC Windows Phone 8X already runs Windows Phone 8 for its operating system as mentioned earlier and this is powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon S4 chipset. This SoC brings to the handset a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM for snappier performance of the HTC Windows Phone 8X. The handset comes with 16GB of onboard storage but this is all you get because the handset sadly doesn’t pack support for memory expansion. In terms of its display, the HTC Windows Phone 8X sports a 4.3-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department includes a main 8MP shooter at its back panel and a secondary 2.1MP video call and self-portrait snapper in its front bezel.

You can purchase the HTC Windows Phone 8X at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
