lgoptimusgLike many phones these days, the LG Optimus G is a 4G Android smartphone powered by the 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The handset delivers one of the largest displays as well as one of the highest resolutions of any current 4G phone, and offers the Chrome for Android mobile web browser for instant Internet access out-of-the-box. Arriving in November of last year, the bezel surrounding the display has been minimized, making for the smallest possible form factor while still delivering a large 4.7 inch display.

The 4.70 inch True HD IPS+ Touch Hybrid Display delivers a special screen enhancement feature for the first time to an LG smartphone. Zerogap Touch technology leaves “zero gap” between the LCD panel and exterior glass which usually exists on other smartphones. This miniscule layer of air unfortunately can distort colors, and on the LG Optimus G the removal of that air gap provides for truer colors, and better viewing outdoors and at extreme angles.

This allows the 1,280 x 768 pixel resolution screen to offer its 16 million colors at a rate of 318 pixels per inch for the best possible visual displays. The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and supports standard multitouch, capacitive gestures. LG has added Power Saver and Eco-Mode features to help conserve battery life, and this has given the slim smartphone the ability for up to 13.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge.

Measuring just 0.33 inches (8.45 mm) in thickness, the LG Optimus G 4G Android smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 system chip. The CPU is a speedy quad core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, and a powerful Adreno 320 GPU handles all graphics processing. The handset also offers a generous 32 GB of built-in storage, as well as a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory. A music player with Dolby mobile sound enhancement joins a built-in YouTube video player in the LG Optimus G multimedia suite.

The camcorder on the back of the handset offers voice activation and delivers one of the highest megapixel counts of any smartphone camera. That 13.0 megapixel shooter offers a unique Time Catch feature that takes multiple photos at several different random intervals. Perfect for shooting pets or restless children, this is just one of many special effects and customization options provided. Video is recorded at 1,080P HD resolution, and a front facing VGA quality chat cam is also on board.
