LG Optimus G: As of the moment, the LG Nexus 4 is one of the more popular handsets in the smartphone market today. The handset is the current Google flagship device and is already running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the Android mobile operating system. And with its status as a Google developer device, the LG Nexus 4 will always get first dibs on whatever platform changes or software updates that Google will release because the handset runs a version of the Android operating system with no custom user interface overlaid atop the OS itself to complicate and unnecessarily delay the upgrade process.

The LG Optimus is available for a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.

However, the LG Nexus 4 is based on another handset which happens to be the LG Optimus G, the current flagship device of the Korean smartphone manufacturer. This LG Optimus G is said to be the handset that will give the Samsung Galaxy S III more than token competition and by just looking at the specs sheet of the device, we come to the realization that indeed, it is more than capable of doing just that. After all, being the flagship device that it is, the LG Optimus G packs an impressive array of components under the hood.

However, that is not the only good thing going on for the handset right now. As it stands, the LG Optimus G recently got its certification as a Carbon-Free device from the CarbonFund Foundation making the handset an eco-friendly gadget. In addition to that, there were 5 other LG products (though these were not mobile devices) that also got the certification – which is in line with the manufacturer’s aim of becoming an environmentally-responsible company. This Carbon-Free certification simply means that the LG Optimus G is environmentally-friendly throughout the handset’s whole manufacturing process which includes procurement of raw materials, production, distribution, use and disposal.

According to Dr. Skott Ahn, Chief Technology Officer at LG Electronics and we quote, “As an environmentally responsible company, we have strengthened our commitment to bringing energy-efficient products to market. But I’ll be the first to admit that this is a marathon, not a sprint and we still have a long way to go. Fortunately, we’re off to a great start.”

As for the LG Optimus G 4G, the handset made its way to US shores where it was released by both AT&T and Sprint. Under the hood, the handset runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system but an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is planned for the device. Its operation is powered by its QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor along with a whopping 2GB of RAM. The storage space onboard the handset comes up to 32GB while its display is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand features a main 13MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.3MP at its front bezel.

You can purchase the LG Optimus G for a reduced price now starting at $99.99.
