htconex2Android 4.4 KitKat software was officially announced and released a few months ago and since then those with handsets that are about one year old have been waiting to see a complete list of handsets that is about to be upgraded to it.  For the most part, just about any Google Edition and Developer Edition of a high end smartphone has already been updated.  The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 were also updated and let us not forget that the Moto X was one of the first, along with its little brother, the Moto G.

Because the software is really just a small upgrade from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean it might not be that big of deal that your device does not show up on the list, but it would still be nice to check out the new software that everyone has been talking about.  For the most part, HTC handsets that are newer have made the list and that includes the HTC One, which launched early last year and is expected to be replaced with another version sometime this year.  One smartphone that did not make the list, is the HTC One X.

The HTC One X and the One X+ are two smartphones that were popular when they launched and not that old compared to some that are on the update list.  Last week, it was rumored that the two smartphones might be on the list for Android 4.4 KitKat software, but that all changed this week when the company decided to keep them both at Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.  That also means that HTC Sense 5 user interface is also going to be the last update for the smartphones.

In the recent months, it was understood that the AT&T version of the HTC One X was going to be updated to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software, but according to a tweet from HTC_UK, that does not appear to be the case.  Google initially announced the KitKat software a few months ago and claimed that it would be perfect for those smartphones that are getting a little older.  That did not mean that all aging smartphones would be on the list, however, many were hopeful that if their smartphone was 12 to 16 months old that it might be getting updated.
