htconeYou probably know that the HTC One is a very powerful and popular smartphone. The handset has been a bestseller globally even though it has not yet reached the pervasive and speedy Verizon Wireless network in the United States. That day comes soon, when the HTC One launches on Verizon on August 22. Recently, due to the handset’s powerful hardware package and feature set, the Global System for Mobile Communications Association named the HTC One their Best Mobile Handset, Device, or Tablet of 2013.

The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99 .

That is pretty lofty praise for a smartphone which many analysts have called the most powerful Android mobile handset ever designed, but is not the first major award the device has one. The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) award for Best European Advanced Smartphone of 2013 and 2014 was recently bestowed upon the HTC One 4G. And this year’s annual Computex industry expo saw the HTC One awarded the Taipei Gold Medal award for Design & Innovation. Industry awards do not always translate to great sales, however, the HTC One has succeeded in that area as well, and ranks as one of the top three selling smartphones of this year.

The handset hit the American marketplace in late April of this year, and has been certified by the independent UL Environment as an environmentaly friendly handset, due it to its minimal environmental impact throughout its lifecycle. Boasting an infrared sensor which allows you to remotely control your television or home stereo system, the HTC One delivers the Android Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box. The Android flagship also offers an advanced rear facing camcorder with cutting-edge UltraPixel technology, a large 1,080P Full HD display and powerful Snapdragon 600 quad core central processor.

The HTC One is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm), and the large 4.70 inch Super LCD3 display delivers an industry best 468 color pixels per inch, and overall 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution. Up to 16 hours of talk time is produced from a full battery charge, and the CPU has been clocked at 1.7 GHz. A full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, as is 32 GB of built-in storage space, and the rear facing UltraPixel-enhanced camera is capable of 1,080P HD video recording, as well as capturing slow motion clips in 768 x 432 pixels.

That rear snapper allows you to take photos indoors without a flash, thanks to a special optical lens system and advanced CMOS sensor which capture up to 300% more light than the typical 8 or 13 mm smartphone camera. That premier camera also delivers special effects, autofocus, a self timer, a multishot burst mode and optical image stabilization, and captures simultaneous HD video and images in stereo sound. A front facing 2.1 megapixel chat cam is also on board, providing video call and Skype support.

The HTC One 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99 .
