htconeThe HTC One is a very capable handset, drawing praise from some industry analysts as the most powerful Android smartphone ever designed. Delivering the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, as well as one of the largest high resolution displays ever found on a mobile handset, the HTC One currently retails for around $149 at select online retailers, and is now available to run on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States. The phone launched in April of this year in the US, and quickly sold 5 million units quicker than analysts had expected.

The HTC One is available starting at $149.99 at online retailers (saving you up to $50 over carrier prices), or you can purchase the HTC One directly from Verizon starting at $199.

One of the many powerful and undercover features the phone delivers is accessed through the rear facing UltraPixel camera. The HTC Zoe feature allows you to remove objects from snapshots, adding some real photography editing wizardry to the mobile handset experience. Another hidden feature of the handset is that it is designed in an environmentally friendly process. Independent testing lab UL Environment has even given the HTC One its platinum certification as an environmentally preferential device.

Also an “under the radar” feature on board the powerful HTC One 4G is the ability to capture slow-motion video in 768 x 432 pixel resolution, and the handset can even be used as a remote control for your television and home theater system thanks to the special onboard infrared sensor. Also, the HTC One delivers the highest pixel density of any current smartphone with 468 color pixels located over each inch of display space.

The large 4.70 inch display is a Super LCD3 model, with Full HD resolution running 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. The handset is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness, and a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 scratch resistant glass is on board. The sealed battery delivers a full 16.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge, as well as 8.5 hours of video playback. 32 GB of built-in data storage joins 2.0 GB of RAM system memory and a powerful Adreno 320 graphics processor in the handset’s hardware package, which is built around a speedy 1.7 GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 CPU.

And by combining a special ISP and advanced CMOS image sensor with an optical lens system, the UltraPixel camcorder on the back of the phone is capable of capturing up to 300% more light than the typical smartphone camera. A special effects package is on board, including a self timer, optical image stabilization and multishot burst mode, and video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution. The powerful HTC One includes Beats Audio sound enhancement, dual front facing speakers and a Stereo FM radio with RDS display. The HTC One can be purchased at a discounted price tag starting at $149.99, or you can purchase directly from Verizon starting at $199.99.

  1. the HTC One launched with Android 4.1.2, not 4.2. Rumor from Twitter says HTC will skip over 4.2 and go right to 4.3.
