htconeSmartphone manufacturer HTC has gone about releasing their “One” smartphone lineup in what is backwards to the usual pattern. Most smartphone makers released the original in a mobile handset lineup and then simply add numbers, letters and other words to each successive release in that line. For instance, Apple released the iPhone, then the iPhone 2, the iPhone 3 and so on. The Galaxy S was followed by the Galaxy S II and, incredibly enough, by the Galaxy S III. Someone forgot to tell HTC that this makes it very easy for smartphone shoppers to keep track of the best and most recent release.

HTC makes the One X+, the One X, the One S and the One VX smartphones. Sounds pretty confusing, doesn’t it? Well, to wrinkle your nose even further, the company has announced the biggest and best of their HTC One line, naming it simply the HTC One. The handset was announced during a February event, and will appear on the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile networks in the United States. None of those wireless carriers have given a specific launch date as of yet. While the handset does seem to be released backwards to the typical smartphone naming sequence, it is definitely moving forward with advanced technology.

Camera quality, body durability, improved user interface and enhanced stereo sound are four areas where the handset definitely improved. And the new and much-anticipated Snapdragon 600 quad core chip which is up to 40% more powerful than the popular Snapdragon S4 Pro is on board. The HTC One also offers one of the largest and highest resolution displays of any smartphone, and the handset offers a Blinkfeed application which basically gives you one-stop access to all your social media channels and calendars.

The handset arrives in a new premium metal unibody form factor, and the HTC Sense Android user interface has been simplified. Camera operation has been improved by features like optical image stabilization and a back illuminated sensor (BSI), as well as the new measurement for high resolution in cameras, the UltraPixel. The 4.7 inch Super LCD 3 (1,920 ×1,080 pixels) 1,080P display renders visuals in more than 16 million different colors, and is protected against your everyday abuse by a layer of Gorilla Glass 2. The 468 ppi pixel density currently stands as tops in the smartphone marketplace.

The rear camcorder built into the HTC One has a 2.0 UltraPixel camera capable of 1,080P HD video recording, and can also record slow motion clips at 768 x 432 pixels. The above-mentioned CPU is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system chip, and has been clocked at 1.6 GHz. 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, and the handset is offered in both 32 and 64 GB models. Beats Audio joins a preloaded YouTube video player in the handset’s multimedia suite.
