Apple for years offered a 3.5 inch display on their best-selling iPhones, only recently increasing the screen size of the latest iPhone 5 to 4.0 inches. Apple recently mentioned that 4.0 inches is the perfect size for one hand manipulation by a smartphone user, when moving from the top to the bottom of the handset, and that’s how they came up with this particular size. With screens running as big as 5.3 inches (Samsung Galaxy Note) on current smartphones, and frequently larger than 4.5 inches, the designers who built the HTC Droid Incredible 4G agree with the Apple way of thinking.

The HTC Droid Incredible 4G is on sale now starting at 9.99.

The new HTC Droid Incredible 4G Android smartphone delivers a “large enough but not oversized” 4.0 inch display which is the exact same size of the Apple iPhone 5. The handset is also much more compact than many of the larger Android phones currently offered, and delivers Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system out-of-the-box. Measuring 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.46 inches (122 x 61 x 12 mm) and weighing 4.66 ounces (132 g), the handset arrives in the typical candy bar form factor as a flat, rectangular slab, but makes a smaller footprint than the standard 4G LTE smartphone.

The 4.0 inch screen on the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is a Super LCD display which protects against scratching and chipping with its Corning Gorilla Glass overlay. With an above average pixel density of 275 pixels per inch, that screen delivers an overall resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Wireless DLNA connectivity provides video out to an external large screen HD TV or monitor, and standard proximity and light sensors help conserve battery life, also adjusting for the proper display brightness automatically. The handset accepts capacitive, multitouch gestures for navigation. Running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE delivers significantly faster up and download speeds over 3G networks.

Actual data rates on the downlink run up to 5-12 megabits per second (Mbps), with speeds of 2-5 Mbps consistently offered on the uplink. Battery conservation efforts team up with the 1,700 mA battery the handset offers to deliver approximately 20% better talk time than the standard 4G LTE device. 9.57 hours of talk time is delivered from a single charge, and standby time runs approximately 18.6 days. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE uses a dual core 1.2 GHz Krait central processor and graphics specific Adreno 225 chip to handle your requests, 8.0 GB of data storage are built-in and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and allows for simultaneous HD video and image recording. A 1.3 megapixel chat cam faces the user, and a YouTube video player has been pre-installed.
