Big Red was able to get to the number one position by being the first wireless provider in the United States to light up its LTE network. In addition to that, Verizon also aggressively rolled out its LTE network which enabled it to be at the top spot in terms of the width and breadth of its coverage.

AT&T which happens to be on the second spot refuses to just sit idly and watch while Verizon enjoys its comfortable lead. In fact, AT&T has just announced a couple of weeks back that it already reach a major milestone in its rollout where its LTE network now covers a total of 365 LTE markets. With this recent batch of expansion, AT&T is now close to covering 99% of its 3G zones with 4G LTE which it intends to accomplish by the end of the year.

This recent development now means that users of AT&T LTE-enabled devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S IV now have more and more locations where they can take advantage of the carrier’s LTE coverage.
