The Apple iPhone 4S was released on October 14, and Apple has already released sales data for the first three days after launch. In a record-setting launch for Apple, the Apple iPhone 4S sold 4 million units in the first 72 hours after their launch date. This is double the amount of units sold by the iPhone 4 on its first three days after launch, which moved 2 million units and was considered a sales success. The Apple iPhone 4S debuts Apple’s new iOS 5 operating system, which currently is in use in over 25 million devices worldwide. The Apple iPhone 4S also debuts a virtual personal assistant named Siri, whom you can communicate with verbally.

Apple decided with the design of the iPhone 4S, a bridge between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that will be arriving in 2012, to keep it simple. The phone looks like the last couple of iterations of iPhones, arriving in a black, slab form factor. Like the iPhone 4, a proximity sensor and light sensor are built into the display, the screen is a multi-capacitive touchscreen which supports multitouch gesture navigation and 16 million colors. Resolution is delivered at 640 x 960 pixels, and the screen is a 3.5 inch LCD screen.

Talk time on the Apple iPhone 4S is almost double the average talk time of all 4G phones at 14 hours, and standby time is approximately 8 days. When using 3G, talk time is approximately 8 hours, about the average for all smartphones. A dual core 3-D graphics hardware accelerator is built into the handset as part of the software package, and the Apple iOS 5 mentioned earlier is a dual core A5 1.0 GHz processing chip supported by 512 MB of RAM memory.

Dual cameras are present in the form of a rear facing eight megapixel and front facing VGA quality camcorder, and video chat, video call and the ability to record video in 1080P HD resolution at 30 frames per second is available. The Apple iPhone 4S is available in three storage models, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. Retail pricing is respectively $199, $299 and $399.
