In today’s smartphone world, the Samsung Galaxy Note II can be considered as one of the most powerful devices currently available in the market today. Not only does it come with a massive 5.5 inches of screen real estate but the components it packs under its hood are also very impressive. In fact, when you take a look at the internals of the second generation Samsung phablet, some of these are even more powerful than those found in the innards of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the current flagship device of the Korean electronics giant.

The Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $69.99.

Be that as it may, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is just like any smartphone out – it still is susceptible to bugs and issues that hamper it performance. However, these can easily be taken care of by software updates which are designed not only to quash these bugs but also to improve the performance of the handset. However, there are cases wherein a software update can also have adverse effects on the performance of a particular handset like in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Remember the Exynos security flaw that was reported a couple of weeks back? Well, Samsung already confirmed that it is on top of the situation and has already released a software update designed to fix this vulnerability on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, word on the street is that the update also had negative effects on the performance of the phablet wherein its battery life became a bit shorter after the update was installed.

There is still no confirmation about this but users are already reporting that the number of hours of active usage they can squeeze out of their Samsung Galaxy Note II handsets has been lessened by one hour. Other users also reported that the standby time of their respective handsets has been cut down by twelve hours at the least. Again, no confirmation on this but speculations point to the MediaScannerService on the handset as the culprit for the excessive battery consumption of the handset.

However, there is also the off-chance that these incidents are pretty isolated because there are other Samsung Galaxy Note II users that attest to the fact that nothing changed in the way their phablets squeezed the juice in their battery packs. Regardless, nothing will change the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note II is one of the most desirable handsets in the market today.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is already running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this is powered by an Exynos 4412 chipset that comes with a quad-core 1.6 GHz ARMCortex-A9 processor and a whopping 2GB of RAM. The phablet can be had in a 16GB or a 32GB model in terms of storage capacity and this can still be expanded using its microSD card slot. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Note II comes with a 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department is a virtual twin of the Samsung Galaxy S III’s with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP snapper.

You can purchase the GAlaxy Note II at a discounted price tag now starting at $69.99.
