iphone6Now that the leading mobile company just released its high end iPhone 5S and the cost effective iPhone 5C to users this month, it is time to start talking about what you would like to see on the next generation iPhone due out next year.  Apple still has to offer the new iPad and iPad Mini models this year, but there are plenty of fans that are already looking towards the new iPhone 6 that will come next year.  According to one analyst the new smartphone is going to come with two models that offer different display options.

Most of the time, when a company offers more than one option for the same phone, one comes with more storage, a different color option, better process or something like that, but if the iPhone 6 comes with two different display sizes, but retains the same name that would be a first.  Other reports indicate that an iPad with a 12.9-inch display could be possible, as well as a MacBook Air with Retina resolution, new Apple TV and the iWatch.  Most of these new devices have been on the list for a little while now, but this is the first report to indicate any detailed information regarding any of them.

The report comes from NPD DisplaySearch and it says that by the second quarter of next year, we will see the iPhone 6 on the market.  This would be a little different from what Apple fans are used to when the iPhone is typically released in the fall months.  Although, the report shows an earlier date for the next model, the iPhone 5 was also announced early, but released late, so only time will tell on that information.  Apple is reportedly testing new display sizes from 4.8-inches to 6-inches in size, according to a source that spoke to the Wall Street Journal.

Some might remember a prototype of the iPhone 6 that showed up last year and it had a 4.8-inch display on it.  One analyst believes that is the model that we are likely to see in the middle of next year.  The two displays coming could be one that is 4.7-inches with a 1280×720 resolution giving the device a 312ppi pixel density, while the other measures 5.7-inches with a 1920×1080 resolution that gives a pixel density of 386ppi.

Beats Audio technology has been showcased in some of the newer smartphones on the market and now it looks like the company is looking to get into the music streaming business.  According to one online source, Beats will be getting its own music streaming business going within the “next few months”.  In an interview, Luke Wood told an online source that the service would be accessible via the browser, iOS powered devices, as well as those that are running the Android operating system.  The first rumor of the new service came along way back in February 2012.

The service will have some stiff competition with Spotify, Rdio, iTunes and Pandora already offering very premium music streaming services much like it.  The details regarding the new service are not very clear right not and that includes the features that the service will provide or the price that it will cost consumers each month.  Typically, the service will give subscribers an option to get unlimited access to millions of tracks that they can stream live or download and listen to offline on devices or their computers.  Beats has been playing a big part with the partnership that it has with HTC lately.

The Beats Audio and HTC partnership started about one year ago and recently ended, although the HTC powered devices will still be getting the audio technology installed.  Beats also has partnerships with other companies like HP, which will be using the technology in more of the laptops that it produces.  Those that purchase HTC or HP devices will be getting exclusive incentives, but that may or may not be included with the Beats Music streaming service once it launches.  If Beats opens up a music storefront, for example, the HTC handsets could be easily integrated into the service and that would be a nice feature offered by the company.

Beats Music is still very much in the dark right now, but at least a company executive came forward to officially announce the service so that consumers are not wondering whether the company had forgotten about it over the last year.  The service could be offered for free much like Pandora with a few ads placed each hour, or it could offer a premium subscription that allows users to stream the music without ads and unlimited as long as they want.

nexus10leakedphotosGoogle is going to be revealing a couple of new products in the month of October and besides the highly anticipated Nexus 5, many are expecting to see Google showcase the second generation Nexus 10 tablet.  An image was posted via Twitter this week that reportedly shows promotional material for the new Nexus 10 tablet and the most revealing part indicates that ASUS will be the company making it.  The first time around, the Google Nexus 10 was made by Samsung and rumors from earlier this year suggested that ASUS might be the one making the Nexus 10.  That has finally been confirmed.

The new tablet is going to have a 10-inch display, much like the first one, but with a higher resolution.  In the image you can clearly see the words “Wi-Fi tablet”, which is not going to help confirm the rumor that LTE support is coming this time around.  The Nexus 7 LTE model was recently released, so if there is going to be a 10-inch option like that, it might come weeks after.  The Google Nexus 7 gained a lot more attention than the 10-inch model ever did and it might have been in part because it only offered dual-core processing, compared to the new quad-core CPU in the 7-inch model.

The original Nexus 10 was priced $100 less than the iPad, but when it launched, most of the consumers that wanted a 10-inch model, already had the iPad, leaving the Nexus 10 behind.  The next generation Nexus 10 will be launching with the new Android 4.4 KitKat software pre-installed, as should the Nexus 5.  The launch date has been penciled in for the 14th of October, but Google has not commented on that date up to this point.

Because ASUS is taking the development from Samsung this time around, there are no details as to what hardware is going to be used, but it is not likely going to be equipped with an Exynos chip from Samsung.  One thing is for sure, is if ASUS can develop a 10-inch tablet with a quad-core processor, a higher resolution display and the latest Android operating system.  Over the next couple weeks more information will be revealed and then consumers will know if the iPad 5 has a worthy competitor.

galaxysiiiallThe popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone has reached its 16th straight month, and the handset is currently available starting at one penny on contract through select online retail outlets. Offered in blue, white, black or brown and available in both 16 GB and 32 GB models, the handset recently received some good news from Samsung. The consumer electronics company is releasing an intelligent watch they call the Galaxy Gear, and wireless integration with the Galaxy S III smartphone has been promised by the end of this year.

Some cell phones will reach 1 million global sales, with a few hitting 5 or 10 million in their lifetime. The Samsung Galaxy S III is a slim and lightweight Android mobile handset which recently recorded its 60 millionth sale. That’s the number which very few smartphones or mobile handsets ever see after their run is over, and sales continue as the phone is still a popular choice among smartphone shoppers. One of the first handsets to deliver simultaneous high definition video and image capture, the Samsung Galaxy S III delivers an attractive feature package overall.

The device is small for one that offers a 4.80 inch high resolution display, measuring just 5.39 x 2.80 x 0.34 inches (137 x 71 x 8.6 mm) in size, and weighing just 4.70 ounces (133 g). That screen is protected against typical dings, drops and scratches by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and delivers a True HD resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. Pixel density is high at 306 pixels per inch, with more than 16 million colors used to render visual displays. The industry average talk time is 11.0 hours, and the Galaxy S III delivers up to 15.0 hours of talk time after a full battery charge.

On the hardware side, Samsung has included a generous 2.0 GB of RAM memory, and although ample onboard storage is provided for the typical smartphone user, your closet space can be expanded thanks to the microSD slot which supports external memory cards up to 64 GB in size. A dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU powers the Galaxy S III handset, as part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip. An Adreno 225 graphics processor is present, and NFC wireless support is also on board.

The Galaxy S III allows you to capture all your video memories in Full HD resolution, at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Digital image stabilization, a high dynamic range mode (HDR), a back illuminated sensor (BSI), and a special effects package allow for extreme customization, and the rear snapper runs 8.0 megapixels. A front facing chat cam with Skype and video call support is also present, Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter apps are ready for use out-of-the-box, and a recent announcement leads us to believe that the Galaxy S III will receive a boost up to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system in the next few months.

droidminiThe industry average for a smartphone is 11.0 hours of talk time delivered after a full battery charge. While performance will certainly depend on the individual user and how much you surf the web, download applications, watch videos and drift in and out of Wi-Fi or carrier provided access, lab controlled environments use single charge talk time as a way to compare apples versus apples when you are shopping for a smartphone. At 28.0 hours of talk time offered after a full battery charge, and wireless charging also supported, the Motorola Droid Mini 4G delivers a much better battery performance than the typical handset.

The Motorola Droid Mini can be purchased at a reduced price starting at $49.99, saving you up to $50 over carrier prices.

The device arrived in the United States mobile marketplace on August 29 of this year, and runs on the pervasive and speedy Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. The extremely attractive battery performance is provided by a 2,000 mA cell which is typical of most smartphones. However, Motorola Mobility has presented a customized hardware package of processing cores and chips which handles device operations and your requests a little differently than the average mobile handset.

With many phones delivering a quad core central processor, the Motorola Droid Mini uses a dual core Snapdragon S4 Pro, but supports it by allowing other processing cores and chips to handle common everyday tasks. This means that the CPU on board the Motorola Droid Mini 4G works only on your most important requests and operations, which has allowed the chip to be clocked at a very speedy 1.7 GHz. A standalone natural language processing core, individual computing core, and powerful quad core graphics processor share in the task-handling responsibilities, and this conserves battery power while also speeding up the central processor.

Retailing for around $49 on contract at select online retail outlets, the phone successfully offers a large, high-resolution display and generous portability through excellent battery performance in a very compact, slim and lightweight package. The Droid Mini smartphone measures just 4.77 x 2.41 x 0.35 inches (121.25 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm) in dimensions, tipping the scales at a lightweight 4.59 ounces (130 g). That slim design and low weight come in spite of a durable and rugged DuPont Kevlar fiber body and a large 4.30 inch touchscreen.

That display offers True HD resolution at 720 by 1,280 pixels, a pixel density of 342 pixels per inch. Built into that screen are special light and proximity sensors which automate everyday tasks to further conserve battery power. The phone offers a full 16.0 GB of built-in storage and 2.0 GB of RAM memory, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity options, and a rear facing 10.0 megapixel camera which has improved its megapixel count by a full 25% over previous Motorola Droid handsets. That rear snapper also delivers a “quick capture” photography mode so you never miss a shot. Built into the front of the handset is a 2.0 megapixel chat cam which also supports Skype and video calls.

The Droid Mini can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.

nexus5Google will be replacing the Nexus 4 with the brand new Nexus 5 eventually and according to rumors it is bound to happen sometime in October, specifically around the 14th.  When the new smartphone arrives, it is expected to have the latest Android 4.4 KitKat software pre-installed on it when you take it out of the box.  Even though neither of the devices have been officially announced, information about the two keep appearing in leaked documents online.  This time around it appears to be a log file that shows both the Nexus 5 and the Android 4.4 KitKat together.

Over the last few weeks the rumors have been getting hotter and more detailed in regards to the Nexus 5 and the new software which was announced about one month ago by Google.  The Nexus 5, which is going to be made by LG, has slowly been leaking out into the mobile world confirming that it will be arriving shortly.  Besides a few appearance in code and benchmark tests, Google also discontinued the Nexus 4 from the Google Play Store and that gives a little bit of confirmation that a newer device is on the way to replace it.

In the log file that was posted online by Myce.com, shows the Android 4.4 software being referenced as the Key Lime Pie and it is running on a device with the codename reading “Hammerhead”.  In the past, there were rumors that showed that the “Hammerhead” device was in fact the LG D820, or the Nexus 5.  According to the log files, not only is the new device running the latest version of the Android operating system, it appears that it is connected via the T-Mobile network.  Some test reveal the device comes with sensors like a Magnetometer, Gyroscope, Barometer and will support wireless charging.

The log files also show that the device has Google Babel installed, which is a new messaging service that Google is working on and could arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat.  Because none of these details have not been confirmed by Google, it would be smart to wait around for an official announcement before assuming the rumors are the real deal.  The Nexus 5 is supposed to arrive soon with a 5-inch, 1080p HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 13MP camera on the back and many design features similar to the Nexus 7 made by ASUS.

htconeFor those of you that have the HTC One, the day has finally come for an update to the operating system as long as you are on the T-Mobile or AT&T network.  If you have the Developer Edition of the HTC One handset, you will be getting a notification soon in regards to bringing your smartphone up to date with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software.  HTC began rolling out the Android 4.3 update a little more than one week ago to those in Taiwan, so it only makes sense that the update will get around to the United States next.

According to HTC, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will be sent out across all of the models in all regions of the world, however, when asked about the United States, the company could not provide an exact date for release.  HTC then went on to say that the company is working hard with the mobile carriers in the United States in order to get the software certified for release.  This week, a bit of information leaked regarding the updates for the devices on the AT&T and T-Mobile network and the source has been proven correct many times before.

The interesting thing about the leaked information is that the HTC One model on the Sprint network was not mentioned and there did not seem to be an obvious reason as to why that would be.  Sprint is typically one of the first companies to get in line with updates that are being sent out to smartphones.  The updates could still hit this month with just a few days left, but it is more likely that it will be approved for release early in October.

The HTC One arrived back in April of this year and was immediately reviewed as one of the best smartphones on the market at the time.  Featuring a nice 4.7-inch S-LCD touch screen display with a 1080p HD resolution, the HTC One wowed smartphone owners right out of the box.  The display also has a 468ppi pixel density and scratch resistant glass for protection.  The battery is a little smaller than average, but should still provide around 8 hours of use.  The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor, graphics processor and 2GB of RAM.  The “UltraPixel” camera on the back side also allows for 1080p HD video recording.

ios6Now that Apple has released the latest version of the iOS software and some consumers are not all that happy with it, one option might be to revert back to the iOS 6 software.  While Apple realized that some were not happy with the new software, Apple has reportedly closed that hole that allows users to do that.  Apple gave users an option to downgrade to the older software if you were not happy, but that option was only going to last one week, which is more than what Apple has allowed in the past.

Last week, there was an option to users that had the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad and other compatible devices were allowed to revert back to iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 6.1.4.  That loophole has been closed this week by Apple.  If you are upgrading to the iOS 7 software you are stuck with it until the company releases another version.  If you currently have the iOS 6 software installed, you can keep it as long as you want and do not click the update notification you will be getting regularly through the iTunes software when your phone is plugged into your PC or Mac.

You can still download and install all of the iOS 6 files to your device and go through the process to put the operating system back on your phone, but the last step is to call to Apple and have them verify the software, which it will no longer do, causing the installation to halt and device activation to fail.  It is typical for Android powered devices to allow for any software to be re-installed, but Apple’s process is much tighter than that, especially the activation of the device.

If you do not like the iOS 7 software and you are stuck with it because you failed to revert back to the older software, you will be able to get a new experience, but it might take months to get the iOS 7 jailbreak posted online.  Even though you are stuck with the new software and do not like it, it could be because you are not familiar with it and there are iOS 7 guides posted online that can help you get used to the new look and feel for the features.

applecolorsAn image that was leaked this week reportedly shows the new iPad 5 in the same colors that the iPhone 5S was released in just last week.  Most of the time if you see a leaked image of the new iPad, it is shown in a silver color with a white front panel.  The leaked image is showing that the newest part of the iPad family is going to be coming in the same Space Grey and Silver as the iPhone 5S, according to an Australian writer, Sonny Dickson.

The iPad 5 coming in a new color that will presumably replace the slate color, indicates that Apple is seemingly ready to release new colors, much like it did with the latest smartphone release.  For years Apple was holding to one or two colors for the iPhone and when the iPad arrived, it was the same thing.  The iPod Touch and iPad Mini followed suite and Apple was seemingly not going to budge on the fact that mobile devices can come in a variety of colors.  That was until the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C arrived this year.  Both of those devices came along in new colors like gold for the iPhone 5S and yellow, green, blue, pink for the iPhone 5C.

If Apple is going to replace the colors of the iPad 5, it will most likely also replace the colors for the iPad Mini 2.  In fact, a leaked image showed up last week that showed the iPad Mini 2 with a space grey colored case.  The new iPad Mini 2 is reportedly coming with the Retina Display, which will measure about 7.9-inches.  So far, the iPad has not been leaked in the color gold, but that does not mean that it won’t show up before the official release later this year.

The new iPad 5 will take some new colors from the iPhone 5S and the overall design for the larger iPad will be coming from the iPad Mini.  The iPad Mini design has been favored by many in the mobile world and it appears that Apple has taken note of that as it will be releasing the new products with the same general design.  The new design is slimmer and comes with tighter bezels revealing more of the display than models did in the past.

htconeFor those of you that have the brand new HTC One, which was released back in April of this year, you have been waiting long enough for the latest version of the Android operating system.  The new software, which is about to be replaced by the Android 4.4 KitKat software, should be ready to download and install on your device sooner than later.  Initial reports indicated that the popular HTC One was going to be getting the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software by the end of September or early October.

With September coming to a close very quickly here, it might mean that for some the update is going to be pushed into next month.  HTC had announced plans to update that device a few weeks ago already and that gave users plenty of reasons to get excited since it was the latest version of the Android operating system that is available.  The main thing that made news was the fact that HTC was going to skip the Android 4.2 update in favor of the Android 4.3 update. The Android 4.2 software did roll out for the HTC One in other parts of the country and that is why the news caught owners by surprise.

A Twitter account well known for getting HTC information out to the masses before it is officially announced has released what could be the information that everyone has been waiting for.  Even though an exact date was not given it looks like HTC One users will be getting the Android 4.3 software before the middle of October.  With that being said, it does take time to get the update released to all of the users in the market, but once the last phase of software is sent out it should be before end of October for sure.

Once your HTC One is updated with Android 4.3, Google will be getting ready to release the next Nexus device called the Nexus 5 and that is expected to arrive with the Android 4.4 KitKat software pre-installed.  At that time, all of the other Nexus branded devices will be getting updated as well and then users will be waiting around for the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie software to show up, which some are expecting later on this year.
