When talking about the phablet category of the smartphone competition, there is now way that the Samsung Galaxy Note II will not be part of the discussion. After all, the second generation Samsung phablet is still the undisputed king of the hill in the category and has been at the top of the heap since getting released late last year. After all, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is the epitome of the word phablet – an amalgamation of the words phone and tablet – which is what the Samsung phablet really is.

Similar to the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is also a powerhouse of a smartphone with fire-breathing components under the hood. In fact, such is the power that the Samsung phablet possesses in its internals that it was considered as part of the very potent one-two punch of the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer along with the Galaxy S III in its bid for smartphone domination. And when talking about domination, the Samsung Galaxy Note II was able to totally dominate the phablet category of the smartphone competition because of the lack of a worthy opponent that could offer more than token competition and give it a serious run for its dinero.

In addition to that, the Samsung Galaxy Note II reached a level of popularity never before seen in a niche device. Because of this popularity, the phablet was released not only by all major carriers in our side of the world and some minor ones as well. One of the carriers that released its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is AT&T where the phablet was consistently part of the carrier’s list of bestselling devices since hitting the shelves last year.

And now that newer and more capable handsets are being unveiled, it is only natural for wireless providers to slash the prices of the handsets in their respective stables. AT&T has already done so and recently gave the Samsung Galaxy Note II a price cut that made the second generation Samsung phablet more affordable than ever. Even Ma Bell’s authorized resellers are already selling the Samsung Galaxy Note II at this heavily discounted price point AT&T gave them the green light. Of course, those interested in making the Samsung Galaxy Note II their next mobile weapon of choice will be made to sign a new two-year service agreement with AT&T as customary.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the handset already runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this draws power from the phablet’s Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. This SoCbrings to the handset a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and a whopping 2 GB of RAM to make sure that the performance of the handset is always flawless. The handset is available in a 16GB and a 32GB edition in terms of its storage space but this can easily be expanded using the handset’s dedicated microSD card slot. Its display is still its main selling point with its 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department is a virtual twin of the Samsung Galaxy S III’s with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP snapper.
