lggflexNot that long ago rumors started to fly around that had to do with smartphones that were going to come to the marketplace with curved displays, or flexible to some degree anyways.  LG and Samsung have been working on the technology for more than one year and to some degree have even showcased how cool it works with smartphones.  One of the first smartphones to come with a curved display was the Samsung Galaxy Round, but since that did not come to the United States, consumers were left waiting for something that would.

That is where LG comes in.  The company finally officially announced the LG G Flex smartphone back in October and it has been selling in Korea since then.  The LG G Flex features a 6-inch touch screen display and was certainly rumored to be coming to the United States eventually.  Not all of the mobile carriers in the States would sell something like the LG G Flex, but there is always Sprint or AT&T.  A leaked image that showed up this week shows the LG G Flex with Sprint branding on it, but since the company has not announced the smartphone, it must be considered rumor at this point.

The leaked image came from a online source that has been proven correct more than not and this time the image was posted to Google+.  The rendered image shows the LG G Flex, which is not all that obvious, but the Sprint Spark LTE spinner icon on the home screen is.  Right now, that is what people are going to be holding onto until Sprint officially announces the handset for sale.  The Sprint G Flex is reportedly going to have the model  number “LS995”.  The phone is reportedly going to be stacked with powerful specs including a “self healing” back cover.

The phone is going to get a lot of attention with most of it going to the curved, 6-inch OLED display that has a 720p HD resolution.  The curve is from the top of the phone to the bottom and should give a good amount of protection from falls.  LG claims the phone will feel more ergonomic and offers improved video-watching.  The smartphone is going to be powered by Android, the Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB of internal memory and a 13MP camera on the back.  The phone will also come with a larger, 3500mAh battery.
