droidultraThe Motorola Droid Ultra is one of the skinniest smartphones ever created, and is one of three mobile handsets released by Motorola Mobility in July. The phone hit the mobile marketplace in the United States on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, alongside the Motorola Droid MAXX and Droid Mini. All three of those phones are powered by the Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System, which delivers what the company is calling an “always on” experience.

The Motorola Droid Ultra can be purchased at select online retailers starting at $99.99, which is a savings of up to $100 over carrier prices.

A natural language processor allows you to control the handset, which is always accessible because it understands your voice commands even when it is in standby mode. A contextual processing core joins a quad core graphics processor in handling low draw and other standard operations, and this allows the Snapdragon S4 Pro dual core central processor to focus on your more important requests. That CPU has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, and the Motorola Droid Ultra also delivers 2.0 GB of RAM system memory.

Recently the instructions for rooting the Droid Ultra 4G appeared online, which would provide root control over the handset. Just remember that rooting your Droid Ultra can possibly void the phone’s warranty, but many tech savvy handset owners enjoy the ability to reprogram their smart phone experience, and establishing root control allows you to do just that.

Droid Ultra users must first download the correct apk file for the handset, install and run it, and click “Setup.” The phone will then reboot with full root access. The Motorola Droid Ultra 4G currently sells for $99 on contract at select online retail outlets, and the ultra in the device’s name certainly applies to the ultra-skinny form factor. A large 5.0 inch True HD display lays atop a slim 0.28 inches (7.18 mm) body, and the phone weighs only 4.83 ounces (137 g).

A Kevlar fiber unibody and protective Gorilla Glass make for a durable handset, and resolution on the display runs 720 by 1,280 pixels. Despite the incredibly slim profile, the Motorola Droid Ultra delivers an outstanding 28.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. 16 GB of storage is built-in, and the rear facing 10.0 megapixel camcorder provides a quick capture option which can be accessed with a simple flick of your wrist. The phone also offers a front facing chat cam and NFC wireless connectivity, has the capability to function as a mobile hotspot for multiple wireless devices, and conserves battery power by only lighting up the portion of the display which is necessary to display a notification when in standby mode.

You can purchase the Motorola Droid Ultra 4G for a discounted price tag starting at $99.99.

Or you can purchase directly from Verizon Wireless starting at $199.99.
