htcdroiddnaThe HTC One X+ was meant as an update to the HTC One X. And with a larger battery, faster processor and multiple feature upgrades, the HTC One X+ was indeed a step up in performance from its predecessor. That having been said, the HTC Droid DNA 4G is an even bigger step up in features, hardware, software and performance, and arrived on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States on November 21. The handset boasts a quad core processor, double the typical amount of RAM memory, a slim, light body and Jelly Bean 4.1 Android OS.

The HTC Droid DNA is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.99.

As recently as September rumors began leaking that HTC was at work on one beast of a phone which would be their effort to compete with the popular Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 5 smartphones. To that effect, it appears that HTC engineers grabbed all the best possible parts and pieces at their disposal, and the result is one impressive Android smartphone. For example, the large 5.0 inch screen is a true high definition 1,080P display with incredible 441 pixels per inch. Comparatively, the 4.80 inch Galaxy S III runs 306 pixels per inch, while the Apple iPhone 5 delivers 326 pixels per inch to its 4.0 inch display.

The handset was recently spotted on the Amazon Wireless year end holiday sale retailing for around $149 on contract. The HTC Droid DNA 4G is built with a tough polycarbonate unibody and distinctive red side grills. Combined with an ultra-matte finish, the phone is distinctive in appearance to say the least. As mentioned above, the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system is present out-of-the-box, and HTC has included the HD game Reign of Amira preloaded, effectively to show off their powerful quad core processor and Adreno 320 graphics processing unit.

With all the hardware packed into the large screen handset, the HTC Droid DNA 4G for Verizon is still slim at 0.38 inches (9.73 mm) and relatively light at 4.87 ounces (138 g). The 5.0 inch ImageChip ISP S-LCD 3 display uses its world-class pixel density to deliver an overall resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. More than 16 million separate colors are present on that display, which is protected by a layer of scratch resistant glass, and supports standard capacitive, multitouch gestures.

Talk time runs approximately 50% better than the typical smartphone, with 12.6 hours of talk time supplied from a single battery charge. The quad core 1.5 GHz central processor on board joins the above mentioned Adreno 320 GPU in the handset’s Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 microchip package, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory joins 16 GB of built-in storage in the hardware profile. The camcorder is an 8.0 megapixel model, delivering video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and a front facing chat cam is also present. The HTC Droid DNA 4G delivers the full range Beats Audio sound system, and a YouTube video player has been built-in.

You can purchase the Droid DNA for a discounted sale price now starting at $99.99.
