Way back in January of last year Google announced they would be coming out with version 4.0 of their operating system, tantalizingly titled Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). After describing many of the operating system’s features, like the new Face Unlock security app which uses cutting edge facial recognition technology, Android smartphone shoppers were anxious for ICS to appear. And it wasn’t until December 15 that ICS 4.0 showed up, in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone for Verizon. When it first launched it was exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE platform, was an instant hit, and has been a best seller for that wireless service provider ever since.  You can get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for as little as one penny at select retailers.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G delivers a powerful processor, high-resolution display and video recording, and the maximum amount of data storage of any smartphone out-of-the-box. Verizon recently reduced the retail price of the handset to $0.01 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan at select retailers. Download speeds range from 5 to 12 MB per second when inside a 4G LTE coverage area, and upload speeds of 2 to 5 MB per second are possible as well. RootMetrics is the name of an independent systems reviewer, and they recently tested all four major LTE networks in the United States, afterword declaring Verizon to be the fastest and most reliable.

With a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display, the handset delivers one of the largest screens in the entire smartphone marketplace. The Galaxy Nexus uses more than 16 million separate colors and 316 pixels per inch to create visuals, and that high-end pixel density results in an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. A scratch resistant Oleophobic coating protects against chipping, and the Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G Android smartphone comes equipped with built-in light and proximity sensors, which automatically correct for the proper brightness taking into account ambient light levels, and help conserve battery life.

Those battery conservation efforts team up with the 1,850 mA battery on board the handset to deliver 50% better talk time than the typical 4G smartphone, at 12.0 hours. On the back of the handset is a 5.0 megapixel camcorder, and it is joined by a 1.3 megapixel chat cam up front facing the user in the camera combo. Video recording in stereo sound runs 1,080 P HD resolution on the camcorder, and the chat cam can be used for both video calls and portrait snapshots. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G is run by a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU, and 32 GB of built-in, user accessible data storage are present out-of-the-box.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G starting at just one penny!
