This time every year online retailing giant Amazon conducts several holiday sales. In their wireless store currently, the Motorola Droid Razr M Android smartphone, which recently received an upgrade to the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, is retailing for one penny on contract. The handset is compact, in a thinner and lighter form than the typical 4G smartphone with a 4.30 inch display, but battery life is still impressive, a speedy dual core processor is on board, as is high resolution video capture.

The Droid Razr M is available for a reduced holiday price now starting at $0.01.

Typical of previous Droid Razr handsets, the Motorola Droid Razr M has an aircraft grade aluminum frame which surrounds the display. That display is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and the Droid Razr M back plate is made of DuPont Kevlar. The Razr M continues in its protective, rugged profile by adding a special water repellent nanocoating that protects both the exterior and interior of the handset. Jelly Bean 4.1 delivers an overall smoother and quicker user interface, improved Google Now, better camera operation and other important upgrades.

The Droid Razr M is offered in black or white and hit the United States 4G LTE system on September 10 this year. Slim at 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm), the handset is also light at 4.44 ounces (126 g). Motorola Mobility was able to achieve those dimensions and that light weight by spanning the display from edge to edge and corner to corner on the front of the handset. Coupled with a nearly nonexistent bezel surrounding the display, the effect is a handset that puts all the focus on the large 4.30 inch touchscreen.

The Motorola Droid Razr M 4G therefore delivers 40% more screen and less body than other phones with a 4.30 inch display. Resolution runs 960 x 540 pixels, and the 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED screen is made up of more than 16 million colors delivered at a rate of 256 pixels per inch. The handset accepts standard capacitive, multitouch gestures, with DLNA wireless connectivity providing video out options.

That handset also delivers 40% more power than phones like the iPhone 5, with its 2,000 mA battery offering a full 20.0 hours from a single charge. The CPU is a dual core 1.5 GHz chip, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as is 8.0 GB of built-in data storage. A microSD slot is provided for offboard data access and storage expansion, and a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder can record video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD resolution).

You can purchase the Droid Razr M for just the pennies in your pocket with the price now starting at $0.01.
