bbz10bThe much-anticipated BlackBerry Z10 10 LTE capable smartphone hit the tech hungry United States smartphone marketplace in early March. The first BlackBerry handset with the BlackBerry 10 operating system and newly revamped form factor landed on the Verizon network a couple of weeks later, and it is currently offered at a $100 discount from Amazon. That wireless online retailer is selling the Verizon BlackBerry Z10 starting at $99 on contract, and it is being hailed as the fastest, most advanced BlackBerry smartphone to date.

The handset offers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder and front facing chat cam. That rear snapper is capable of recording your video memories in 1,080P HD resolution, and let you crop photos, use the special effects package to enhance them, apply artistic filters and further customize your pictures and video clips. That rear camera also offers a unique Time Shift mode, which actually records a micro video only milliseconds long before and after you take a photo. This allows you to choose the perfect moment to record just the right picture.

Constructed in a slim and light form factor, the handset measures 0.35 inches (9.0 mm), and weighs just 4.85 ounces (130 g). The display on board the handset is 4.2 inches in size, and is totally touchscreen driven. Resolution runs 768 x 1,280 pixels, offering more than 16 million independent colors at the rate of 356 pixels over every inch of display space. Standard light and proximity sensors are built in, and typical capacitive, multitouch gestures are accepted for device navigation.

BlackBerry has included an 1,800 mA battery to provide juice for the BlackBerry Z10, and a full charge delivers 10.0 hours of talk time and 13.0 days of standby power. The power package on board the Z10 is centered around a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip, and a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. An Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, and the handset delivers a generous amount of RAM memory, at 2.0 GB. 16 GB of storage space is pre-installed, and the Z10 supports microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards up to 64 GB in size.

The front facing chat cam mentioned earlier runs 2.0 megapixels, and also allows you to place and receive video calls. The built-in music player on board the BlackBerry Z10 4G LTE handset can filter your music by album title, artist name and play lists, and the handset offers Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC support out-of-the-box. Video out is supported by a microHDMI type D connection, and the BlackBerry Z10 can function as a central Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple wireless devices.
