To begin with, there’s Apple TV, which has been rumoured to be in the pipeline for nearly a year now. While Apple has centred most of its focus on developing smartphones and computers, it would be interesting to see how it fares in the television industry. To really add to this, it’s been no secret that one of Apple’s primary competitors in the smartphone industry has been Samsung Electronics. If Apple does seriously consider entering the TV space, it would go toe-to-toe yet again with Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest television manufacturer since 2006.

Apple could even raise the stakes with Apple TV by adding features that the current industry hasn’t touched yet. It could include Siri voice controls, an iOS operating system for running applications with the same familiar user interface that Apple fans have grown to love and even a TV-based web browser to couple with Apple’s already introduced set top box. While securing deals with cable providers might be one of its greater obstacles, one can expect to at least learn more about the device as it makes its way towards the market.

While it may be a while before the Apple TV makes it to living rooms, one can reasonably expect an iPhone 5S to hit the market this year. With the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and the most recent iPhone 5, it seems pretty clear how Apple has chosen its nomenclature and consumers can expect to see some changes in the next upgrade. Some of these changes could finally add NFC (Near Field Communication) to the upgrade along with the usual upgrade in camera hardware, better RAM, a faster processor and possibly enhanced storage options.

Aside from smartphones, one could also expect a new tablet computer to release during the upcoming year. In all probability, the iPad Mini 2 will come with a faster A6X processor, increased RAM, better storage options, and a Retina display. Tablets of other companies, namely Samsung, Amazon and Google, have persistently marked their price tags lower than Apple’s, despite the similar specs, and it’s possible that Apple may lower the price of the next iPad Mini to gain an edge.
