lgg2The first week of February is behind us, and it appears that the Verizon LG G2 smartphone, currently retailing for around $49 on contract on Amazon, will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system upgrade in March. The new OS boost will deliver improved camera quality, smarter battery use, color emoji support and improved security, as well as a new user interface. The flagship LG smartphone has sold well in 2013 and early 2014, and delivers arguably the best sound quality across all applications of any smartphone.

Uniquely designed with volume and power buttons on the back of the handset, this new physical feature resulted in significantly fewer drops in lab testing. And along with that exclusive design is support for studio quality Hi-Fi sound. Hi-Fi sound playback and HD multichannel audio are on board the LG G2 for enhanced sound quality. This means 24-bit 192 kHz Hi-Fi playback that reproduces sound far superior to that of a CD.

The dedication to superior smartphone sound includes a Dolby Mobile sound system, as well as a Stereo FM radio with RDS display functionality. LG has also added what sounds like a spy feature to the sound recording capability of the rear facing 13.0 megapixel on the G2 smartphone. Special sensitive microphones support the Audio Zoom feature which allows you to focus in specifically on what you want to hear while recording video. This de-emphasizes surrounding noise during video recording, as well as playback.

The LG G2 also boasts infrared technology which allows you to turn the handset into a programmable remote which controls multiple, compatible consumer electronics devices. This includes televisions, audio systems and cable set-top boxes, as well as smart devices like air conditioners. The popular QSlide feature delivers multitasking efficiency by allowing you to open two additional windows over your main screen, adjust their size and transparency levels, and operate these miniature windows independently.

The LG G2 as a slim handset, measuring just 8.9 mm (0.35 inches) in thickness. Using battery conserving Graphic RAM (GRAM) display technology, battery life has been improved approximately 10 percent. This leads to roughly 18.2 hours of all-around use after a full battery charge, 50% better than the industry average. The large 5.2 inch Full HD IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen offers a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch, one of the highest such ratings in the industry. The rear facing 13.0 megapixel snapper is capable of simultaneous HD video and image recording, recording video in 1,080P HD at 60 frames per second.
