top5satisfyingA report came out yesterday revealing the top 5 most satisfying phones in the U.S.

Mobile research firm OnDevice Research polled 320,00 across the world to find out how satisfied people were with their phones. 93,825 people were surveyed in the U.S. and in an expected outcome, Motorola’s Atrix HD came out at the top satisfying phone. This is surprising because Samsung and Apple have the largest market shares in the smartphone industry in the U.S. In fact, the two leading companies came in only at fourth and fifth place according to the survey. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 was satisfying phone no. 4 and the iPhone 5 was just behind it. That left second and third place for Motorola’s Droid Razr M and the HTC Rezound 4G.

The Motorola Droid M is available for just pennies now starting at $0.01.

The most talked about part of these results was the fact that Apple’s flagship phone, arguably the best smartphone at the moment, is lagging so far behind competitors. Sarah Quinn, OnDevice Research Marketing Manager, was quoted saying that Apple may have been behind some of the most revolutionary devices in the last decade, but it was now falling behind many Android devices, as most high-user satisfaction devices are Android.

The story in the U.K. was slightly different, as a poll of 52,140 people revealed. The iPhone 5 emerged in second place there, right on the heels on HTC’s One X. Third, fourth and fifth places were occupied by Samsung Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S3 mini and Samsung Galaxy S3. People were also asked about their overall mobile device satisfaction. In the U.S., Apple came out at the top for its iOS gadgets. Silicon Valley-rival Google was at second place for its Nexus phones, with the next few spots going to Motorola, HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson. In another unanticipated twist, Samsung came out last in mobile devices. It was also discovered that 4G users generally had a higher level of satisfaction than 3G users. This is good news for operators that are pushing towards a complete 4G portfolio.

The other countries surveyed were Japan, Indonesia, France and Germany. Users were reached via mobile Web that would automatically identify the smartphone and then ask the user how satisfied he or she was on a scale of 1 to 10. The complete list isn’t published yet, nor is any supporting analysis or explanation.

You can purchase the Droid Razr M at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
