After having been available in the shelves for more than six months now after getting released to the market during the latter parts of May, the Samsung Galaxy S III is still one of the more popular handsets today. This popularity of the handset is unlike what we’ve seen in any smartphone in the past and you only have to look at the more than 30 million sales figure of the current Samsung flagship device to ascertain its popularity.

The Galaxy S III is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

This popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S III stems from the fact that the handset is considered as one of the most powerful handsets in the Android ecosystem today. Not only does the handset pack very impressive fire-breathing components in its internals, it also brings to the table a set of even more impressive capabilities. And with the expected upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in the near future, the Samsung Galaxy S III is expected to become more capable than it already is because the Android 4.1.2 refresh will bring to the handset several features and functionalities found in the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

However, despite the seeming power and popularity of the handset, it still falls prey to bugs and issues like any other smartphone. After all, this is a given in the smartphone world and the Samsung Galaxy S III is not an exception to this. In fact, just a couple of weeks back, reports came out that a sudden death issue has plagued the handset where it will shut down for no apparent reason and not restarting afterwards.

More recently, Samsung has already confirmed the issue and has announced that the issue seems to be limited to the version of the handset with 16GB of storage. In addition to that, the Korean electronics giant has confirmed that it is already on top of the situation and is now working on a fix in the form of a software update that will get this bug taken care of. Sad to say, there was no mention of an ETA for the update to get rolled out but for those users whose Samsung Galaxy S III handsets got hit with this issue, you can be assured that Samsung will get your faulty device fixed or replaced.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S III, the handset is currently running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this draws power from the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC gives the device a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a staggering 2GB of RAM under the hood. The handset can be had in either 16GB or 32GB in terms of onboard storage but this can still be expanded using the dedicated microSD card slot in the chassis of the Samsung Galaxy S III. As for its display, the handset sports a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.9MP snapper.

You can purchase the Galaxy S III now starting at $0.01.
