galaxysiiisprintThe globally popular Galaxy S III smartphone is an award-winning handset which has totaled more than 50 million global sales. That impressive statistic was reported on multiple websites in the middle of March, and is particularly noteworthy since the smartphone did not debut in the US until late June of last year. Built as a slim and light 4G capable phone with large high-resolution screen, the 16 GB version for Sprint’s 4G LTE system recently received an attractive retail price downgrade.

The Amazon Wireless store online is one of the largest sales portals for smartphones in the online and off-line world, and they recently discounted the 16 GB Galaxy S III for Sprint. The handset starts at $9.99 on contract, and is also offered in a 32 GB version. At 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, and weighing just 4.70 ounces (133 g), the GS III is exceptionally slim and light considering the fact that it delivers an impressive hardware package and large 4.80 inch display.

That Super AMOLED screen is protected against typical smartphone wear and tear by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and resolution runs high at 720 x 1,280 pixels. Pixel density is also well above average, at 306 pixels per inch, and the display is created in more than 16 million different colors. On the Sprint 4G LTE system which now contains more than 58 major markets in the US, talk time runs approximately 15% above average, with a full 9.2 hours offered from a full battery charge.

Today’s smartphone cameras are usually present in a duo, and that is the case with the Sprint Galaxy S III. You can enjoy video chat and video calls with the front facing 1.9 megapixel camera, or record high resolution 1,080P HD video with the rear camcorder. That backwards facing snapper is also capable of simultaneous HD snapshot capture while recording video, and offers features like a built-in LED flash, back illuminated sensor (BSI), autofocus, a multishot burst mode, image stabilization, a self timer which allows you to include yourself in your pictures and an extensive special effects package.

Offering NFC wireless support out-of-the-box as well as the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, Sprint’s Galaxy S III allows for efficient multitasking thanks to double the average amount of RAM smartphone memory, at 2.0 GB. The dual core 1.5 GHz CPU is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 chip package, and a microSD slot provides storage expansion. Facebook, Picasa, Twitter and YouTube apps are present out-of-the-box, and the handset also offers a built-in music player with both custom and preset equalizers.
