Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III Gets Sub $100 Retail for 2013

It ended the year as the number one selling smartphone globally during the 4th quarter, and has shown no signs of slowing in popularity or sales in early 2013. The 16 GB version of the handset receives a lowered retail price for the new year, currently offered for around $99 on contract at retailers like the Amazon Wireless store online. With NFC wireless support, Jelly Bean Android 4.1 operating system and large high-resolution display, the new lower retail will continue to make the Sprint Galaxy S III an attractive option for smartphone shoppers.

Slim at only 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, the handset is also light when compared to other 4G smartphones with such a large display, weighing only 4.70 ounces (133 g). The Samsung TouchWiz UX UI Android overlay is present, and popular applications Picasa, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook have been pre-installed. The large 4.0 inch Super AMOLED screen delivers a high-end display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, offered at the high-end rate of 306 pixels per inch.

The Sprint Galaxy S III offers more than 16 million colors when rendering visuals, and supports standard capacitive and multitouch gestures. Light and proximity sensors help preserve battery power, and that leads to 9.20 hours of talk time generated from a single charge of the handset’s 2,100 mA cell. A Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package is present on the Sprint Galaxy S III, and 32 GB of data storage are built-in.

A microSD slot is added for storage expansion functionality supporting external memory cards up to 64 GB in size, a full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory are on board the Galaxy S III, and an Adreno 225 GPU exclusively handles all graphics processing. The central processor is a speedy 1.5 GHz dual core model, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder is capable of simultaneous HD image and video capture. That rear snapper contains a built-in LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI) for low light camera operation.

Capable of 1,080P HD resolution video capture, the camcorder delivers a CMOS image sensor, a high dynamic range mode (HDR), widescreen panorama mode, auto and touch focus, and special effects package. Built into the front of the handset is a 1.9 megapixel chat cam which can be used for video calls or portrait snapshot capture. The Sprint Galaxy S III also offers a built-in music player, which can filter by album, artist or play list, and offers both custom and preset equalizers.
