android442The list of those smartphones and tablets that are able to get the latest software from Google is slowly getting larger.  The Android 4.4 KitKat software is brand new to many and now it looks like Sprint has announced more of the Samsung Galaxy devices that are expected to be updated this year.  Over the last few weeks, Sprint announced the update for the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3, which are two of the more popular devices on the network today.  This week, the focus turned to a couple more devices getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update along with some other enhancements.

Sprint announced that it has plans to update five more Samsung Galaxy devices and that includes the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Mega and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.  Sprint left the information at that and did not mention what dates Android 4.4.2 would start to roll out.  Sprint did note that once the day gets closer, it will share more detailed information about the update and each device with consumers.  The mobile carrier did go into some detail as to what features would be coming with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software.

The features that customers can expect include the enhancements to the location menu, which enables users to activate GPS, Wi-Fi, Mobile networks and check the battery usage of apps that are currently running.  Messaging has also been enhanced to include Hangouts with SMS and MMS, plus a larger assortment of Emoji icons.  Google’s Mobile Service will also be upgraded to include the automatic backup of photos and videos, plus the option to open, view and rename Google Docs and other files.  Lock screen features are becoming quite popular and this update will bring the ability to quickly access the camera via a new shortcut.

All of those features are coming on top of what the Android 4.4.2 KitKat has to offer users.  Not knowing when the updates are coming is less of a big deal as long as the official announcement has come with some of the details like it did this week from Sprint.  Samsung has a very popular line of Galaxy devices and once they are all upgraded to Android 4.4.2, they will have even more attention on them as one of the most popular mobile companies of all time.
