lgg2The LG G2 is one of the most powerful and versatile smartphones ever designed. On specs alone it is one of the most capable handsets the mobile marketplace has ever seen, and recently received a little bit of good news via several different channels. An LG G2 handset owner in Italy recently asked the company through his Facebook page when the new Android 4.4 KitKat update would be available for this particular phone. The company responded with a special report.

That report stated that Italian wireless carriers would be delivering Android’s 4.4 to the popular and bestselling LG G2 handset as early as March in that country. That Italian release would also mean an official European rollout, and further evidence that March is probably the date for Android 4.4 in Europe is the confirmation from LG France that the KitKat boost will be available in “early 2014″, and since the first quarter of the year ends in March, this gives further credence to a release date in that month.

Also, a representative of LG Canada speaking about Android 4.4 for the G2 back in November stated that the handset would definitely receive the new software by the end of the first quarter, or March 2014. Parent company LG has not confirmed nor denied any release dates at this time, with the only LG G2 version running KitKat currently in Korea. However, with the next generation LG G3 rumored for release on May 17, 2014, the company would certainly like to get its current flagship device up and running with the best available software before that new device launch.

The LG G3 could be introduced as early as this February, at the important Mobile World Congress. This would be a great springboard for a March delivery of Android 4.4 to the G2 handset, which has been uniquely designed with power and volume buttons on the back of the handset below the rear facing main camera. This design has been proven to result in substantially few handset drops, and is ergonomically sensible, since your fingers are located on the back of the device when you used in most cases.

Available since mid-September of last year, the LG G2 recently enjoyed a price reduction at several online retailers, such as the Amazon Wireless store. With a focus toward studio quality sound, the handset supports 24-bit/192 kHz Hi-Fi playback. Highly sensitive and directional microphones are also on board, the QSlide function allows you to open up two additional windows on top of your main screen for integrated or independent multitasking, and the infrared sensor on board the LG G2 allows you to use it as a remote control for consumer-electronics devices. The LG G2 boasts a large 5.2 inch Full HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen, an enhanced 13.0 megapixel camera, a 2.3 GHz quad core CPU and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory.
