In terms of rolling out updates to the devices in its stable whether ICS or a simple software update, Asus has been one manufacturer that has been said to be very timely in doing so. In fact, we just saw its original Asus Transformer get upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich a couple of weeks ago and now, the manufacturer is busy yet again in showing update love to the Asus Transformer TF300.

According to reports, the manufacturer started rolling out the software update for the Asus Transformer TF300 last Friday so users of the tablet should have already noticed a notification on the slate heralding the availability of the update for download and installation. Until now, the update is still not coming up on the firmware page of the Asus Transformer TF300 on the manufacturer’s support site so if you haven’t seen the notification come up on the tablet, you can always manually check for the update by hitting Settings > About tablet > Software updates.

Once applied to the Asus Transformer TF300, the software update will crank up the software version of the tablet to version 9.4.3.29 but will stay on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. The update is said to be just a minor one but is rather important because it will bring improvements to the stability of the device. In addition to the improved stability, the update will also bring bug fixes and enhancements to the Wi-Fi connectivity and camera application of the Asus Transformer TF300. Not only that, the update will reportedly take care of the random scratchy sound on the tablet that users have complained about in the past and early adopters of the update have already attested to the smoother experience that the update brought to their tablets.

There is one caveat however with this update especially if you are fond of tinkering with your device and have already rooted the Asus Transformer TF300. The said update reportedly breaks root access on the tablet so be sure to have OTA Root Keeper running on the tablet before downloading and applying the update on the tablet.

As for the Asus Transformer TF300, the tablet got glowing reviews since it hit the shelves. The tablet raced official status when it was announced back February and finally made it to debut in the shelves in April. Under the hood, the Asus Transformer TF300 packs an NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset which powers its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system of the tablet while the computing power of the tablet is courtesy of its quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space of the Asus Transformer TF300 is a bit meager at just 16GB but a memory expansion slot enables a user to beef this up so this shouldn’t be an issue at all. As for its display, the Asus Transformer TF300 sports a 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel with a 1280 x 800 resolution while its camera department features an 8MP shooter at its back panel while a 1.2MP snapper resides in its front bezel.
